I don't think they should be illegal, but a semi-auto shotgun loaded with 00 is capable of doing more damage in a crowded room than an AR with a bump stock. Again, I'm not advocating for banning them or any weapon for that matter. Just stating an opinion I see often expressed by others in videos trying to defend AR-15s.
This. Plus they would be easier to conceal than a long gun.
I don't care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.

The law is clear. The illegality is all about concealment.Much more destructive weapon than a handgun in close quarters.
Betcha I could still fit an 18" double barrel with shortened stock under a flannel shirt... Especially if it's only long enough to get in the door of a liquor store.

One man with a gun may control 100 others who have none.
Why is it any different to use a short .410 shotgun than a Taurus Judge? Same ammo, same pisspoor patterning. lol
A Taurus Judge and the Governor and the Super Comanche are not .410 bore,,, they are .45LC handgun and they have rifling. They just happen to accept a .410 round and they are nice to have around the cottonmouth areas.

A god buddy's dad worked for Ithaca a long time ago and he gave me a book about Ithaca guns. IN the book they showed this shotgun... https://www.google.fr/search?q=ithaca+police++side+by+side+shotgun&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=efx6Ja67hVwpPM%253A%252CdsSUq75MhLbZlM%252C_&vet=1&usg=AI4_-kQVWmg_zcuewGBPHj6aA9JLJCSm0A&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi4mq3s9qHiAhWSsRQKHbs-CaQQ9QEwAXoECAkQBg#imgrc=efx6Ja67hVwpPM:&vet=1
They sold them to police during that same time. The book had some photos of guys who took pellets in the face from them. I'd say they were a good deterrent to bank robberies.

Never said there was a problem with that,I would certainly want to be able to hide a weapon going in to rob a bank as well as for the getaway into the crowd on the streets.I stated that is why the law says it is illegal to saw off a gun below a certain size.I also stated the law in a previous post that describes a "destructive weapon"-look it up.I didn't write your stupid laws.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.
And “sawed off” just means less than 18 inches. That said Remington and Mossberg both currently manufacturer and sell shotguns less than 18 inches now through some loophole.
Since the manufacturer never installed a shotgun stock on it, it was never a shotgun - it's just a firearm. Only shotguns have a barrel length requirement. If it had ever had a shotgun stock on it, it would be a shotgun and would be illegal. Our gun laws are ridiculous.
Not true, Shotguns-18" min, Rifles -16" min, pistols with shoulder stocks = short barreled rifle.
Every kid needs a Dog and a Curmudgeon.
Remember Bowe Bergdahl, the traitor.
Beware! Jill Pudlewski, Ron Oates and Keven Begesse are liars and thiefs!
it isn't a loop hole , one must just carefully read very poorly written legal definitions and follow the letter of the BS law.
a gun that starts it's life as a "Firearm" or Other with an overall length longer than 26 inches is just that a firearm.
if it is first sold as a shotgun or an AOW then it isn't allowed to be a "firearm"
If you poorly write , bad , unconstitutional laws , expect a little creativity to meet the letter of those stupid laws.
have you seen the Cali compliant grip , it has a plastic blade so you can't wrap your thumb around it making it not a "pistol grip" or the rapid breakdown pin so that you open the upper and lower legally disassembling the gun to change magazines.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

if your going to rob a bank , or a liqueur store , whats one more law broken.
there was a shoot out in Appleton last week guy was 47 years old had been in an out of prison for the last 29 years on various drug , weapons and armed robbery charges do you think having 3 open cases and being a multi felon kept him from having a gun and shooting the cop fireman and bystander.
rules do nothing to keep criminals from breaking them. they let them out on 1/24th of their sentence any way so they can re-offend sooner.
there becomes limited options keep them in prison so they can't re-offend on the outside or hope that a very well armed public will keep them from seeing prison in the first place.
