Found out my friend ended his life yesterday. Many are deeply saddened and @#$$=$ we didn't do more or he did didn't reach out. He was a vet and suffered from ptsd and other things.
Please keep his friends and family in prayer

Hear this more and more.

We shouldn't spend a dime on any illegal until we can take care of our own.

It's sad for sure. I think it's roughly 22 vets a day end their lives.
Exactly

So sorry to hear that about your friend. I have know many families that their child has taken their life and is very, very sad deal.

Mental Health issues in the US are a huge concern. I was at a meeting the other day and was talking to a School Administrator and if I got it right, he said, they are mandated to have all kids take a questioner/self exam/confidential on mental health etc.. He said that 28% of the results had suicidal thoughts and mental problems which could lead too. I can't remember what ages are required by state/feds but that is a high % no matter what age group in a town school system.

Sorry to hear we have lost another WARRIOR. Seems as if the folks on the hill would be more concerned about them than they seem to about getting in front of a camera. Not talking about our President as he is doing everything he can while swimming upstream in a flooded mountain river. We all come back with demons. Don't blame yourself for what happened. Take this time to reflect. Honor the person not their last act. They will always be a defender of freedom and our blessed way of life. Prayers to you and all family and friends in this time. God Bless.

Thanks. Yup these types of deaths hurt the most. I've been to too many of them to count nor do I want to.

Mental health issues suck. Wow that's a number that's way to high snowy.

Yup lots of good memories with him, always had a smile and was a straight shooter.

Everyone on here, I got your 6 please reach out to someone if you feel that's the only option left. Reach out if you feel your life is garbage.

I'm usually up really late so I won't mind and will keep it confidential.

Heartbreaking....

No veteran should ever go without the best medical care , without waiting forever....decent housing , not living homeless.... and knows there is someone who loves them deeply ...

There is no good way to hear that kind of news but live in the moment. It is a feeling that you have to feel to move on. You are not alone, there are a lot of us out there who have the same situation. The solution for those who wonder what can be done is to reach out. Have a genuine concern for a veteran. Genuinely ask them how they are. Don't wait for them to reach out (we never ask for help its not in our DNA) ask first and ask often and don't patronize them. They need us. Not thank you for your service but what was your experience serving. Ask them and actively listen. It could save a life because most of us are very very alone.

The VA ain't doing near enough for us. Deny till you die!

I disagree about ALL VAs. I do know for a fact society is lacking any understanding of us, however, I am evidence of the VA helping as quick as can be. Martinsburg, WV is top notch care.

Bowhunter you and JC are so right. I think we are very misunderstood. Not in a bad way just there is no real information for the public to learn from. I am very proud and humbled by my service. I so admire the American people and our way of life. That includes all Americans. I think educating the public so they understand not what we go through but what it really is would go a long way. By the way the PTSD folks at my VA in Biloxi are nothing short of awesome.

I have had tremendous struggles transitioning and I have managed to lose a wife, a girlfriend, three jobs and failed at volunteering. I'm going to an intense VA program. I constantly have a chip on my shoulder. Any way I am in a bad I don't but I pray others do. I will hopefully run a line this winter and get to come back home in my own way. God i hate this, it sucks to no longer be as awesome as I was when I was there.

Some VA's are a lot better than most. I know the VA here is terrible. Every vet I know hates our VA and they try and try to get the right treatment.
Yes PTSD is terrible I have mild case (not combat related) and it's terrible. I'm still understanding and coping with mine and it's triggers.
JCBears I hope you can too.
For those vets dealing with ptsd please don't hesitate to teach out to me if you need an ear.

Thanks Adam. It’s been rough. I hope running a line helps.

You're welcome JCBearss. I hope it does too. I haven't ran my lines in 2 seasons now and it is brutal not to doing so. I hope I can get out to them and the mountains more this year.

Really, really sorry to hear this. That doesn't express how horrible this all-too-common problem with our vets is. Sorry for your loss. Our government needs to take better care of our vets.

I have compassion for those that served and serve. I personally don't know anyone that may be in need....... BUT I now have a son in the the Army 11b now in the 10th Mtn. Div 187th Black Sheep. And there isn't a day that goes by that I don't worry about the future. He hasn't deployed yet but it is coming probably by the end of this year. We dance around the subject but two different ways of looking at the same thing He 23 yr. old see's it one way and I the father see's it another....
I pray daily and have come to realize that putting my sons fate in Gods hands helps. I can't explain it but when I finally gave it all to God I felt as if a huge weight was lifted off my mind and I don't worry as much as I did.
Adam M prayers to you in your time of grief- And many prayers for the family and his friends.....And prayers to all vets !

Thanks everyone I appreciate it.

Politicians need to get off their butts and do something to better care for our vets. Build the wall, greatly restrict immigration put America and our vets 1st.
