We have the perfect habitat for Ringtails but a feline disease all but eliminated them several years ago in our area. I saw two last year and have not seen one since. I have been out a lot at night hunting for them with a headlight with no luck.

My Mother used to make jelly with them years ago and there was an Uncle down in a small community of Algerita in San Saba, County that made wine with them.
I remember it takes a lot of them and a lot of sugar to make either.

Caught one this year east of Austin for a ranch that had several getting into the attic. First one I'd ever seen or caught.

I believe this is the last one I caught but I cannot remember how many years ago that was.

Also one of the few wild animals that makes a good pet, when I was a kid my dad who was a truck driver picked up a young one somewhere and brought it home with him, I had it for a pet till it died of old age
