Sorry to be dumb but what bird do you have to hunt there? Here in Maine we have Grouse or as Mainer's call them, partridge, we have woodcocks. In the Southern part of the state, some clubs put out pheasant. Love bird hunting. Thanks Mac

Sorry to be dumb but what bird do you have to hunt there? Here in Maine we have Grouse or as Mainer's call them, partridge, we have woodcocks. In the Southern part of the state, some clubs put out pheasant. Love bird hunting. Thanks Mac Well immediately around me (within an hour or less) we have ruffed grouse (most common upland bird in these parts), blue grouse (up in the higher elevations) and spruce grouse (sparsely distributed but they're here). We've got a few pheasants but hardly enough to consider targeting them up here in the panhandle. Also we have turkeys which we can use dogs on in the Fall only. The majority of my upland hunting I drive about 3 to 5 hours to get into the chukar, huns and valley quail. A few pheasants around throughout the state, near ag. The further south you go the better the pheasant hunting but it's still not great. We've also got sage grouse and a very limited season on them that lasts a week and is only open in the southern and parts of the central part of Idaho. Sharptails in the southeast. The only native quail species, the mountain quail, we cannot hunt due to very low numbers. I also do usually 2 out of state upland trips a year. One is always in Montana in September for huns and sharptails. The second varies. Last year it was North Dakota, October pheasants and sharptails and huns. This year it will either be North Dakota again or Kansas for bobwhites, roosters and chickens.

Boco the skeeters are starting to come out pretty good now. Same with the bald faced hornets in the woods and wasps and yeller jackets around the house. Good times.
