Better start collecting copper, too. California has a lead ammo ban going into effect in the next month or so. Could happen elsewhere too.

Not necessarily a bad thing.

Say that again when ammo prices go up 300% and hunter numbers go down 25%.

I have no idea how old you are . But here is a true story.

The Hungarian revolt of 1956. I worked with 2 Hungarian guys in the 1960's who had been a part of this revolt. Both were shot up pretty badly but both also told me that at night they would DIG UP weapons buried by their fathers after WW2. They would dig up those weapons at night and kill Russians and then bury them again before daylight.

Sounds like a viable plan to me

Make sure you’re not sitting on the sideline saying, “look at how ammo costs more and hunter numbers are down”

We as the original conservationists should be on the forefront of conservation, lead kills after the shot. Why not be on the side to help stop it? Showing that hunting isn’t the cause? We will be there to help conservation and build hunter numbers. I hope you are a hunter/trapper education instructor or at a minimum you are mentoring someone in becoming an outdoorsman.

I'm all for being on the forefront of conservation, but I'm not in favor of more government intervention/regulation. I can't afford $100/box of ammo if I want to shoot regularly and teach new hunters. We've got more than enough bald eagles in Wisconsin, but our hunter numbers are dwindling. There are plenty of hunters already that only shoot their guns once a year in the week before season and that's the extent of their practice. What will happen if their hunting ammo jumps to $5/round. How many of those hunters won't practice at all? I can tell ya there will be more wounded and unrecovered game, but that's good, because the eagles and vultures are starving to death as it is.

By the way. I believe that is how they will get us. They won’t ban guns, they will make it impossible to get annoying, or reload our own. What use is a firearm if you have nothing to load it with?

The links I posted are about people making the choice to go lead free. I also agree in minimal governmental interference. Non lead ammo really isn’t that much more. And those folks only shooting once or twice before the season. I’m sure their laziness has nothing to do with cost, that is an ethics problem. They weren’t worried about it either way.

I’m glad you are involved in hunter education and mentoring new people. Maybe we will cross paths one day...

Personally I believe the whole "lead is bad" is tantamount to climate change, just another form of control. It's easy and cheap to melt lead and make our own ammo, that's why lead is bad imo.

Yep, while shooting enemies to retain our freedoms, I'm going to worry about contaminating them with lead. mmmhmmmm!

the ONLY reason we can still arm ourselves is politicians are aware that in many parts of the country it is political suicide to support gun control.

politicians representing districts where gun control is seen as a good thing are aware that free americans are willing to load their firearms and rebel if their right to be armed is no longer recognized by the government

I would hate to be the deputy who is told to disarm the residents of franklin county ks

Lead leads to chronic poisoning (maybe), iron (steel) leads to acute poisoning. Just saying, there are a lot more cases of iron poisoning yearly than lead.

I asked a County Sheriff at a city council meeting what he would do in event of an attempt to take our guns. He said "I would deputize a lot of people".

Was he implying he'd need more deputies to get all the guns, or that suddenly, by being deputized, most of the people would be LEO's and, as such, able to have them?

S&R sorta has a point . Many on here talk real tough about revolt and defeating tyranny . And yet , i don't believe many know what that entails . Or how dirty it would be .

All fun and games until your wife got blown up for simply shopping at a store . After all , lots of people associate Costco and Whole Foods with west coast lefties. Socialists associate WalMart as the great capitalist Devil. Heck of a day to need produce.

Need fuel ? Suck when supply lines are interrupted . Like having electricity ? Easy to disrupt.

Think about how many people you're willing to watch die . Yourself being killed ? That's an easy decision . How about watching your friends , neighbors, and family ?

Truth, it will cost you your loved ones for an armed revolt; read about the the war between the states if you think other wise.
