Furbearers, including beaver, lynx, marten, mink, muskrat, otter, red squirrel, wolf, fox, coyote, and weasel, may only be taken by licensed trappers. https://www.gov.nl.ca/hunting-trapping-guide/2019-20/Their trapping facebook group has 1,457 members, so I guess some folks there do trap.

Yes they do. My moose guide was a die-hard and we talked about it for hours. He primarily used snares for lynx and coyote. I saw plenty of lynx when I was there but only heard one coyote. His favorite method was huge carcass piles from processors in the late season with snares set in the trails leading to them in the deep snow.
Trash your goals and plans for life. Just wing it and you'll never be let down!

Some very good trappers from Newfoundland/Labrador.The biggest and best Marten in the world come from Labrador. The "height of landers"were groups of trappers from different settlements that would travel hundreds of miles into the interior upstream on the rivers in the fall over the Height of land and trap all winter.Horace Goudie was a height of lander and wrote a great memoir about his time trapping as a young man.("Trails to remember")

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Get on Youtube and check out the old CBC program Land & Sea. There are 100 episodes that I have listed and they have a few of them on trapping in Labrador. It's a fascinating look into how people lived at that time on Newfoundland & Labrador.
