Got a Alumacraft 165 dominator, will there be much difference between a Minn Kota 50 and a 55 transom mounted trolling motor? About $40 different in cost.

Yep..Go with the 55...Helps in a breeze with boat control..and if the breeze is a little high your not hammering the max..
I had to make the same choice in a transom mount also..It was recommended to use a 30 and I put a 55 on her..I'm sure glad I did..the difference was more than $100.00 for me..I'm glad I did..

What kind of fishing and water do you do? If you do a lot of dodging of flooded timber I'd to bow mount.

Go with the 55 and and bump up to the endura max line with the built in maximizer. it's worth the extra money over the standard endura. They usually run around 300 bucks

Was going to use this on the transom to push only , would steer with front trolling motor.
