I have never read such truer words.
I live in a town where pretty much everyone has a newer truck, boats, campers, and side by sides. Funny thing they never leave the yards as they are working non stop to keep up with the payments.

I have said for years that the book "The Old Man and the Boy" should be required reading for all kids. It is rife with common sense and wisdom.

Such great words and wisdom.
My grandpa taught me something similar. "If you don't have the cash you don't buy it".

Grandpa also said- Don't live your life waiting for someone to die ! As in waiting on Inheritance. I loved that man with all my heart - been over 30 years now since he passed and I can still feel him. Great man I will see again sometime.

I totally agree, and have said the same thing many times.

Except for the whiskey part, I fit the description to a T. I am a lucky man.

There's a lot of wisdom there for sure. I'm gonna have to find a copy of that book.

Thank you for sharing this. My nephew is coming up for a week in June as part of his 8th grade graduation. I just out my order in for this book as a gift for him. Hope it does him well.

I have used a quote from that book a few times on new hunters joining me for the first time. it seems to make an impression:

" What you got in your hands is a dangerous weapon. It can kill you, or kill me, or kill a dog. You always got to remember that when a gun is loaded it makes a potential killer out of the man that's handling it. Don't you ever forget it!"
