What is a good, "Beware of Dogs" sign to use to limit liability and to scare off thieves and trespassers?
What is a good sign to keep someone from approaching and sticking their fingers in a dog's pen?
I have seen a multitude of signs for sale.
I have 5 large to very, very, very large dogs, (one tiny dog too) to protect us and my stock I have multiple customers almost daily. I only sell by appointment and contain the dogs when I have customers coming. The dogs will bark at strangers, are okay with strangers if I am there and okay with the strangers and will bite if I tell them too or if the stranger acts aggressively.

A sign may not relieve you of liability, many years ago, in an eastern state, I knew a junk/salvage yard man that kept a dog inside his shop/office at night, posted with several signs; keep out, no trespassing, beware dog, area patrolled, etc. and behind a 10' chain link fence. When the burglar broke in through iron barred windows, the dog cornered him and kept him at bay for several hours but never bit him; when the case was settled in the courts a couple/three years later, the owner was bankrupt, the burglar was rich and the dog was killed. Don't recall all the details but think the owner also got some jail time on assault. Damages to the burglar were more costly (to the dog owner) as mental stress than if the dog had torn his leg off.
I'd put up quarantine/hazard/radiation signs.

If I was you I’d either get rid of the dogs or stop having customers come to the house. I know you’ll most likely disagree with that, but you’re already questioning your own judgement as of now.

I figure, if someone is dumb enough to come on the premises after the dog starts barking they deserve whatever they get.
Keith, I would not post a sign about your dog. In court, it will be hard to explain why you were keeping a dog that was known to be a hazard to people. Basically, you are admitting liability.
Now, if you don't have a dog, the signage can be a decent crime deterrent.

Maybe it is better not to have a sign. My dogs are well behaved. I trained dogs for a fair amount of my income, for around 17 years. I have never had an issue with my dogs biting anyone.
I mainly want to intimidate some of the shadier people who buy from me, from stealing. I always make sure they see my biggest dogs and I tell how they kill predators at night.
I do worry about some of the idiots, like one women who was here recently, who excitedly sqealed "Furbaby", over and over, while running towards my Great Pyrenees female, who was contained in an oak corn crib. I told the woman to stop and she did. I worry that another idiot will run up and put their fingers in. I am still surprised someone would scream and run towards an unknown, 140 pound dog, but after all I have seen, I should not be.
