I have a pictue of the tire that is one this chevy colorado now and a picture of a tire that was on this pickup when I bought it. The only differance is LT and P on the sizing of those tires. Like I said the one that is P235/75R15 was on this pickup when I got it I know that LT stands for Light Truck. So will it be fine to put these tires on the front end and keep two different on the rear? I'm doing that now and want to use the P series on the front and will save me some money from buying 2 new one. It has 150K so not really worried about much at this point but will need front tires before fall.

It's fine to use either. LT tires are just more heavy duty; they can carry more load.

loosegoose >>> thanks Sir. I thought there shouldn't be a problem because they came off that pickup (P). Well, maybe I can save a little bit of money to get them changed sometime before fall. I appreciate the help very much.

I have "P" tires on my Ford 4 wheel drive. They have held up OK.

You just dont want to shift into 4wd unless you are in slick conditions and make sure it shifts out when you shift it outwith different size tires (new mixed with old )some times they don't just shift out because they are in alittle bit of a bind

This. Using different tires means they're going to have different circumferences, even though they're marked the same size. Don't use 4wd unless you're on something that you can slip a little on-snow, grass, mud, etc are fine. Just don't use it on bare concrete, or you'll create a bind and could break something.

The P tires are rated for passenger vehicle, LT for light truck.

P tires are for little Jeep's and light SUV's.

I wouldn't use the P tires if your going to use the truck like a truck.

As long as the size is the same, the LT or P designation wont matter.
Don't use different sizes.

Just necause tires say they are the same size dosnt mean that they are the same circumference it means they are close . There will be enough difference between P type and Lt tires that you need to be mindful of traction conditions when in 4wd

Thanks for the great advise. Always amazes me how much knowledge there is here and all the help I received. Thanks!

The tires I have on now are 6ply but I will e using those two P type on front. Just going to save me some cash I hope. When in 4x4 it is in mud, snow and ice and very seldom ever have it in 4x4 traveling Hwy's. I should be good to go with your advise.

15 inch tire was what was asked about doubt if you can find a ten ply in that size. I sell a few tires, still learning as we go.

Up here in northern Maine where we drive lots of miles on shale roads Load Range E tires are readily available even for 14" & 15" wheels. I'm about 15 miles from a town with a population of about 1300 people. The repair/tire shop there probably has the common sizes of "E's" in stock, if not they will have them in a day.

Hey Mr. Okie how are things out in OK? I lived in Lawton for two years. We had some big bucks & nice elk on Ft Sill.

It's wet here in Okie land and more to come. A lot of gyp rock roads here that are hard on tires, some old black top roads that would be better if they were rock.

You guys do know that the tires made now DON'T actually have that many plies that are listed. It is just a rating that is based on the old bias ply tires from years ago.Plus the manufactuer is the one rating them . Just look where the above tire was made Thailand . LOL you think they do quality testing as far as the rating goes?

With the P rated tires in front you should be OK as long as you are not in 4WD on a hard surface. I would not assume all four tires are exactly the same diameter. In 2WD the truck's differential will probably compensate for small diameter differences. If you were to put the LT tires in front there would be a danger of rear end slide out because of the deeper tread/gripping power of the LT's.
