This article is truly a giant dig against the M14 or M21.
Mine served me well as an engineer/heavy equipment operator.

I believe a "SNOWFLAKE" writer. Probably never fired or even held one.
There were plenty of Marines that carried them.
Better than an M16 in house to house fighting when having to shoot through a wall.

Can I have one, or are they sort of restricted ?

Can I have one, or are they sort of restricted ? You cant have a real m14 with the fun switch, but you can buy M1A's all day long and even the newer m21 which is just an accurized M1a.

Lots of people out there that think they know something that don't I had a instructor at the Academy tell me my 1911 was a target gun. I just laughed and said it's been a battle weapon for over 100 years but OK! LOL

The accuracy thing has long passed In the military. Now It's shoot as many rounds as fast as you can and hope you hit something. Back In the day of the M1 Garand we were taught accuracy not spray and hope.

First article that popped up on that page for me was “Why Glock is superior to Sig Sauer”.
Lost all credibility right there. I quit right after that. Clearly someone just making noise with zero experience or knowledge of the subject matter.

I'll be more than glad to take any that someone doesn't like. My dad loved his M1 Garands but after firing a M14 he said he just found a better battle rifle . Up close , he still prefered his M1a Thompson or a M2 carbine .

I was too young to have went to Vietnam but I had relatives along with older friends that did.And I have yet,bar none,to hear one say he prefered the M-16 over the 14.Not one.I remember one guy I worked with who had been a LRRP(?) with the Marines in Vietnam tell me they trained with M-14s in boot camp, were issued the 16 overseas, and once in combat with them hated his so much he "lost" his, taking a M-2 carbine from a wounded ARVN and carried that the rest of his tour.

How could an improvement on the greatest battle implement ever devised be a terrible design? Terrible for those on the receiving end perhaps.

We carried the M-14 when I went over in March of 66. The 16's came in about half way through my tour. We kept the 14. 100% dependable. Very accurate and it took a beating. Many negative issues with the 16 and a lot of horror stories. Not the 14. 14's were heavier andyou carried a few less mags but we loved it. Bur then we Marines always seemed to get the good things last. lol
