My Cindy made some strawberry rhubarb freezer jam this year. I think that it's pretty good, the neighbors say that it's fantastic.
I'm just a soul whose intentions are good. O Lord please don't let me be misunderstood.

My paternal grandmother made great strawberry freezer jam. We always called it strawberry stuff. She would give it to me on top of vanilla ice cream and would always give us some to take home. She always put it in square, semi opaque, plastic containers. I miss her. She was a great, kind woman and incredibly smart.
My grandmother's aunt, my great, great aunt Gladys, always picked the strawberries for my grandmother, well into her nineties. I believe Gladys was 98 when she died. She made me a shell covered, cigar box and made Christmas stockings, in my case 49 years ago, that we still use.

Have had plenty of jams but never freezer jam. Must be a northern thing.

Hey trapNH, these freezer preserves are easy to make. All you need is fruit, sugar, lemon juice, surejell, and some jars. First you take the fruit and cut it up then use a dicer to cit it up small , kinda looks like a puret when finished. After fruit is mashed up, you just take 2 cups of fruit and 4 cups of sugar and mix together in bowl, and add a teaspoon of lemon juice, mix well and let sit for 10 mins. Then take your pack of sure jell and boil with 3/4 cup of water stirring it for 1min on hard boil. Take that and pour into fruit and stir good for 3 mins, now just put into jars. Let it sit at room temp for 24 hrs before freezing

And that explains why the commercial stuff doesn't taste as good, it would be tough to sell that stuff to the health-conscious crowd when the first ingredient is sugar.
