That is really cool and something I’ve never heard myself. There was a thread here on T-man a while back about different beaver vocalizations. It was pretty interesting.
Eh...wot?

Yes- Years ago I sneaked upon a lodge in a canoe and rested against the lodge, hearing the kits just the same way inside.
The adult swam right next to me and crawled onto the top of the lodge , sitting in the sun , cleaning its fur, before diving into the tunnel and back inside.
A very cool event to enjoy so close, just as you did.
If you sit still long enough, its amazing how close you can get to some critters in observation.

Almost stepped on this Friday while tky hunting! I'm glad I no longer live in rattlesnake country. I'll take the grizzlies and moose.

I was sitting in a boat fishin once, and got to watch a mama beaver moving her kits to a new den, almost right beside where I was fishing. Got to watch it five times, each time as she got to where she needed to go underwater, she would dunk the kit under for a second, then in just a second, would go into the den. Then back to get another till all five were moved. Was fun to watch! Like others have said... if you don't trap, you aren't likely to see that kind of stuff. I've been a hunter and general outdoorsman my whole life. But once I started trapping, it's amazing the stuff I notice now. Some of the most interesting things I've seen have been since I started. That is a really neat experience, Lee! Probably once in a lifetime. Hopefully not though.

Very cool. Not many have had that thrill.

I'm sure it's no big deal to most of you but I found it really fascinating. I've only been trapping/paying attention to fur critters for a season and a half now. WAs running my bird dogs today and also scouting trapping areas. Found a beaver lodge and I could hear the kits inside grunting/whimpering. I didn't stay too long so as not to disturb the beavers, but it helped to make my day. Funny that lodge isn't all mudded up. The mama must have moved in , in the spring. New fresh colony right there.

Thats the first thing I thought also! Thats really neat you got to hear that.
