I've reloaded.410's for years with a lee hand loader..not sure what they cost now but were very inexpensive when i started, $19.99 if i remember correctly. A star type crimp or a over the shot wad is a choice you can use.

You can use an overshot card and a bead of glue around the edge. Wax will work instead of glue. I usually punch out my own cards from old butter boxes.

Plastic hulls you can " crimp" with a cheap tool that goes into a electric drill. Friction heats the edges and rolls them in

They do not make these hand loaders anymore .What you can do is get parts from the Mec single stage reloader and do it by hand . If you like to know more PM me .

I've done this for 16 gauge. An overshot card and a bead of Elmers glue. It works well. As an added plus, there are no old crimp folds to get in the way of the next wad down that hull. Downside is that you look like a hillbilly at the club with your cobbled together ammo with open mouths.

You can also fire form some brass rifle cases to use make some 410 cases. and just need to change the used primer and load and make your own over powder and shot cards and like stated glue or use wax for the over shot cards. I had made some 3" brass cases for the 410.

Didn't know looking like a hillbilly was a downside. grin I really get strange looks when I pull out my old Sears rabbit eared double with laminated barrels, brass hulls and loaded with genuine black powder.

If you shoot a lot, it's worth the investment in a MEC sizemaster. I have five .410s and a passle of grandkids that love to shoot. My grandkids and I reload a few thousand shells each year and have paid for the reloader many times over. .410 and maybe 28 gauge are the only shotgun shells you can reload and save money because of the higher cost to buy them and the small amount of components they use. I can reload a box of .410 for under two bucks. Of course I have tons of hulls and a half ton of reclaimed shot.

I've reloaded .410, 20 ga. and 12 ga. with a Mec 600 Junior. They work great. Pm me if you're interested. I don't reload any more. Only have 12 ga. dies for it.

Squirrel season opened here yesterday. taking my 7 year old grandson out here pretty quick to wait for the sun to come up. I had to work yesterday.

I use one of the old lee loaders I bought used when my son was 7-8. 410 shells have never been cheap. Those old hand loaders will do a crimp either way you prefer. IMO easiest is an over shot card and a roll crimp. The overshot card is made from thin cardboard like a cereal box. Punch is a piece of pipe with the outside edge ground sharp. Set the cardboard on a block of wood. Set the punch on it and smack with a hammer. The cards will go up inside the pipe. Just push them out with a pencil or something.

You can tear off a piece of cotton to put over the powder charge, mash it down tight, pour in a charge of shot, put a card over it and crimp. Will go bang and not hurt the gun but hardly any pattern. Gun is about good for all of ten yards. Buy some wads. Pattern is lots lots better.

Those handloaders work great if you don't need to produce a bunch for competition. There is a learning curve. Once you get onto it they will save you a lot of money if you have a kid and a 410.

I don't resize. 410 is a breakopen single shot and there is just no need. For a semi especially, a simple handloader might not be a good choice.

I use gasket hole punch I got from Snap-On and cut all my over powder and shot cards from cracker boxes. I put 2 over the powder and one over the shot. I do not by the over shot cards anymore. I did when I first started. I still use the Lee Handloader for my 3" 410 .the Mec Mark 5 I have dose ok on the 2 1/2" but not too good to finish the 3" that is why I use the Lee to finish them. I also make my own cards when I load for my shot shells for handgun also. With the same gasket hole punchs .
