I usually set more than one, have been trapping for cougars since it's been legal to keep them usually six or more traps, two years ago caught two one in a trap and another the dog treed about a hundred feet away I count that as a double!

I have never had a coyote not testing the equipment when I walked up to them in the trap. They almost look like they have been drugged ! Hard to tell by the picture but doesn't look like much of a catch circle.

My best is seven
We have a daily check law
Not all in a row like that but could easy see them all from the gate
Just because you havnt done it doesn’t mean it cant be done. If you look at that picture you can see catch circles from previous days before the picture was taken

I'm involved In coyote study and most of the coyotes we have caught and collared have coward down so bad you could hardly get the choke stick on them.
Same thing with most live market coyotes I've handled of course some have an attitude.

Best I ever did gang setting coyotes was 5 In one field . I had 7 coon under one bridge one time. It was a 3 day check and 5 were dead(drowned) and 2 were still on the move.

My rule of thumb, no tracks or sign 2 traps, 1 track more sign 3 traps. Multiple species 4 to 5 traps. add fresh sets as catches are made. Up to 7 sets well spaced and 2 close. Nothing like alive animal in a trap to draw more to the location. The only time I make just one set is if I'm testing a new lure or technique.

Multiple choices with attractors and set types has always done me well..

I set both sides of a road for wind change. If a two track road is seldom used and not publicly maintained I may set a trap on a drag between the two tracks. The more coyotes tracks I see the more traps/snares I set. When gang setting I want at least one inconspicuous set to catch more cautious coyote. Where I trap skunks and weasels are about the only small furbearers so I use 4 pounds pan tension. With snow on the ground, a trapped live bobcat seems to result in the most circling coyote tracks.

Pretty rare when mine dont all have the same bait from the same jar and pee from the same squirt bottle

Just to clarify the picture with the 7 coyotes in it. No, it is not staged like some have suggested. It was on a 24 hour check. I know I was there, I took the picture. I was there when the traps were set the day before. 12 sets all within about a 100 ft. area. This location took 10 coyotes each time for two days in a row. I know it hard to believe by some people, but these people probably wouldn't believe it if they were there themselves. Most of the people on here know who the trapper is. That year he took nearly 600 coyotes. He caught 64 in the 4 days I was there.
As far as being drugged, are you kidding me?? I have come upon a lot of coyotes in my traps that just lay there and don't struggle. Some go wild and go nuts as soon as they see my truck. Just like people, they all have different dispositions. Most of the sceptics have been around long enough to really realize what can be done by a hard working trapper with good populations. Or haven't caught enough themselves to believe anything. Some things you read on the internet just blow me away.
