I have a barrel of corn that is at least 9 months old because I closed down my henhouse for the winter. When I grab a handful there is a white powder on my hands. Is this mold or bad for the chickens or nothing to worry about?

Thanks.

Pete

Weevils in the corn most likely. Feed it to chickens....no problems.

Has the corn been rolled, Pete? If it has, it's prolly just dust. Some rolled corn I get anymore has more dust than cracked corn!

Thanks. Not rolled and it is local corn and clean. I guess my concern was for mold. No big deal, I'll dump it and buy some fresh corn. It's only about 20 pounds.

Thanks.

Pete

Thanks. It has been in a bucket with a lid inside the shed. No clumping or moisture.

If you don't feel safe feeding to it to the yard birds, put it out for the wild birds.

Take a cup full and pour some 180f or 85c water over it, after 15 seconds, wave you hands over the fume and if mould you will smell it
