or maybe enough of a market that a manufacture could do well at it.

many of us try and keep older tucks running

new trucks are so expensive and you need about 3 of the features and they have 90 extra to break.

not to mention the corners cut to try and save 0.001mpg

if someone made a Kit truck that you had to assemble yourself but would cost around 50% of a new basic truck , but be easy to work on and keep running long term. built with longevity in mind would it be something you would want to buy?

That's a great idea. Love it.

As a kid there were a few guys around town that had some cool kit cars. One of them was an old dusenburg.

That would be awesome! especially if you could get it sort of specialized, like if you wanted it for only highway use vs 4x4 off road use..

It's a trappers life for me

The safety, emission, and king manufacturers would make this tough.
Gotta do biss proper you know.

I'll take one, or three.

a true 4 door crew cab with 2 bench seats 4 seat belts in the back 3 in the front and an 8 foot bed

4x4 would be nice.

When a turn signal switch only worked turn signals.

I've seen kit Cobras, and pre EPA chainsaws.

that is why I am thinking kit , by not making a completed vehicle you avoid competition and compliance with all of these things

look at the Mehandra UTV it looks like a 1972 jeep CJ it is sold as offroad only but surprise the wiring is in place already to add turn signals and in most states then become road legal.

I think if someone came up with the right design they wouldn't be able to make them fast enough. Bare bones, no power windows and fancy crap. No computers, make them old school and make them well built. I know I'd order one.

Like a glider kit, only for a pick up.

Sounds like great idea.

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

If you could build a good small truck that would be awesome. Like the old Datsun/Nissan, 4x4, with a small cab extension but no rear seat. If you just had the frame and body and made it so you could use various transmissions, rear ends and engines it would be great. I know a lot of the kit cars come as just the frame and body - the buyer can finish out the drive train how they like, within certain parameters.

The bad thing about those jeep clones is the top speed is 45. I saw one last Fall at the Sports show in Billings and was pretty excited till I started reading the specs on it. Be ok out on the ranches but not on any paved roads for as impatient people are nowadays.

yes but when I was talking with my dad and he was telling me about how they were easy to make road legal , I got the idea. if you can take a UTV and make it street legal , a kit truck should be able to also.

my dad also got to telling me about a place in south east Wis making Kit trailers , they sell you all the parts you bolt the last few together and they didn't sell you a trailer just parts it keeps costs down.

where I live as long as you stay off the state highway everything is an ATV UTV trail now.

disconnect the speed sensor...the Roxor will go over 70mph...but you wont be able to tell because the speedo wont work...lol

You can have the ECM reprogrammed too.

I like the idea of a kit truck, but you better hurry before Mahindra makes a pick-up version of the Roxor, something like the old Jeep Comanche w/diesel engine.

This has already been done, although in a large way but could provide the blue print for such an idea, UPS.

They killed the semi glider kits, i am betting they would be quick to do the same with a pick up kit.

You mean for only $20,000 I can get a heap of metal and thousands of nuts and bolts hopefully free delivered to my house so that I can then go buy thousands of dollars worth of tools and somehow find the knowledge to put this scrap together and hope I don’t kill myself, my family, and others in this machine that’s suppose to save me money and the satisfaction of doing it myself? Sign me right up!

Every backyard mechanic will be sending these out to a family near you so they can have their tie rod fall apart and smoke a semi head on. What a great idea! Let’s smoke some weed and drink a case of beer while we’re building these things too!
