or maybe enough of a market that a manufacture could do well at it.
many of us try and keep older tucks running
new trucks are so expensive and you need about 3 of the features and they have 90 extra to break.
not to mention the corners cut to try and save 0.001mpg
if someone made a Kit truck that you had to assemble yourself but would cost around 50% of a new basic truck , but be easy to work on and keep running long term. built with longevity in mind would it be something you would want to buy?

That would be awesome! especially if you could get it sort of specialized, like if you wanted it for only highway use vs 4x4 off road use..

With hand crank windows. The safety, emission, and king manufacturers would make this tough. Gotta do biss proper you know. I'll take one, or three.

a true 4 door crew cab with 2 bench seats 4 seat belts in the back 3 in the front and an 8 foot bed
4x4 would be nice.

When a turn signal switch only worked turn signals.
I've seen kit Cobras, and pre EPA chainsaws.

that is why I am thinking kit , by not making a completed vehicle you avoid competition and compliance with all of these things
look at the Mehandra UTV it looks like a 1972 jeep CJ it is sold as offroad only but surprise the wiring is in place already to add turn signals and in most states then become road legal.

I think if someone came up with the right design they wouldn't be able to make them fast enough. Bare bones, no power windows and fancy crap. No computers, make them old school and make them well built. I know I'd order one.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

The bad thing about those jeep clones is the top speed is 45. I saw one last Fall at the Sports show in Billings and was pretty excited till I started reading the specs on it. Be ok out on the ranches but not on any paved roads for as impatient people are nowadays.

yes but when I was talking with my dad and he was telling me about how they were easy to make road legal , I got the idea. if you can take a UTV and make it street legal , a kit truck should be able to also.
my dad also got to telling me about a place in south east Wis making Kit trailers , they sell you all the parts you bolt the last few together and they didn't sell you a trailer just parts it keeps costs down.
where I live as long as you stay off the state highway everything is an ATV UTV trail now.

You mean for only $20,000 I can get a heap of metal and thousands of nuts and bolts hopefully free delivered to my house so that I can then go buy thousands of dollars worth of tools and somehow find the knowledge to put this scrap together and hope I don’t kill myself, my family, and others in this machine that’s suppose to save me money and the satisfaction of doing it myself? Sign me right up!
Every backyard mechanic will be sending these out to a family near you so they can have their tie rod fall apart and smoke a semi head on. What a great idea! Let’s smoke some weed and drink a case of beer while we’re building these things too!
Cold as ice!
