It was right at 90* today. I was in the grocery store, a young kid comes in with a pull over hooded sweat shirt on with the hood up. Now I'm sweating like a you know what in church, isn't their brain fried enough already, this can't be "cool".

You probably got out of there just in time,lol.

All about the image. Years ago I was attending a high school game when some brothers strolled in wearing 3/4 length quilted coat with hoods. It was hot inside the gym and these characters paraded back and forth along the edge of the court during the entire game.

I’m hot natured as it is. Living in the South doesn’t help, lol. I wear shorts year round at work, I can put on enough clothes to get warm...I can’t take enough off to get cool.

I wear a fur hat to the beach just to get attention.

I saw a college kid come in from -20°, blowing snow, in shorts and a t shirt, I thought WTH!

They wear the hoods to keep from being identified when they commit crimes.

The hoodies came into "fashion" at the same time as security cameras started to show up nearly everywhere.
If the hoodie wearer's aren't currently committing crimes, they are avoiding being identified for outstanding warrants while simply walking down the street.

Well when one lays up all day long playing on a phone under an A/C sat at 65 sometimes they just forget to uncover when they make a run for the car with A/C and then a run from the car to the store with A/C.

And, by those they committed the crimes against!

Yea I've also thought the same thing about these young guys wearing toboggan on there heads when it's 90, makes no sense to me

"Being cool" trumps all, including one's health and common sense. Always has, always will, by a segment of society. Might be guided by age, but certainly driven by the need to be noticed. In this age of "me" among those who have little to no self esteem, being cool may manifest itself in unusual ways.
