I have never been able to figure out why in sam hill certain cultures of the human race think that while i'm pumping gas i want to listen to their style of music at 900 decibels.
Other than narcissism, can anyone else explain that to me?

Heck now the gas pumps have to talk to you, not like we are not bombarded with beeps, bells and whistles at every turn from phones, vehicles and other electronics at every turn. A guy starts to hear sounds that ain't there some days.

I live just short distance off an major traffic signal/intersection.. it's not just cars sound systems going bump. bump.. some the motor cycles are pretty loud too. I'm at my camper at the lake right now, what used to be my quiet place...Not no more at least once ski boats and pontoons start running around.. same thing Bump Bump..Not just one culture thing I don't object to some of the music.. Other than no reason needs to be that loud..

Its a need for attention. Annoying isn't it? See lots of people with that need. Women wearing revealing clothing, 4wd pickups with huge tires 5000 dollar paint jobs and all manner of add ons that never get off the pavement, motorcycle at the stoplight reving the engine, oddball colored hair, how about the guy walking around Walmart with a semi black rifle on his shoulder?

world is full of them

Denny nailed it. Too many believe they are so important that they must be noticed by anyone whenever they can.

Haha. Before I bought my youngest “the truck he wanted” he drove one of mine and put a “system” in it. Well, he decided to leave it in there after he got “his” truck. I never played it loud or even turned up the bass...until sitting at a traffic signal one day and was getting bombarded by what I’m assuming was music. I couldn’t help myself, I introduced the “younger” generation to a little AC/DC and Motley Crue all the way down the boulevard. They actually rolled up their windows. I’m generally a respectful person, but their taste in music should’ve been confined to their own vehicle.

I thought this thread was going to be about the new loud TV's and speakers, they are putting on all the pumps at most gas stations now. I personally hate them and can see them distracting people, causing them to get hurt.

I hate people who blast their bass, while driving and at public places, like gas stations too. Out of the thousands of times I have heard those jerks, I have only ever heard black music, no matter what race was playing it.

As I get older I hate loud sounds. I have never understood those HD guys paying $1000's of dollars to make them louder, doesn't give me the BS it makes them safer! More lights make them safer. JMO

Bingo.

And the thing is, the empty can rattles the most. Being remarkable should amount to something...

And being able to fade into the background or disappear in a crowd has some pretty good advantages.

Sometimes you want the song on. When I had my systems I tried playing music most would like. I only had the music on "loud" when I was entering or leaving. If I knew an area would have kids and the music was vulgar it was turned low.

One of my systems was roughly 150 db's even on low volume it was loud. Lots of great memories with that truck and the system.

I wish they would make a truck with a bed side rail short enough so my short butt can reach over the side without climbing on a tire.

The other day we were on the lake fishing bluegills There were about 5 boats staged along the shore line. Then comes the freakin water skier. Has the whole lake to ski In but has to run back and forth 50 yards away from us. We wore out some big gills. Stopped at 51 the grand sons would still be there If they would have had their way.

Did you know the second button down on the right side of the screen will mute the sound at the pump?

About once a month we have a vehicle come by the house about mid-nite. At about 3/4 mi I can hear the music (depending on the wind), then at about 1/4 mi the windows in the house started vibrating. Aggravating, but at least I figure they aren't going to bother anything, surely they know I'm awake from the noise.

The one's I don't understand is the guy who leaves the racket on loud while he goes into the store. Is it some sort of mating ritual? I have yet to find hoards of potential mates swarming his vehicle when he eventually returns. One day I will just have to ask him the question, WHY!"
Maybe a better plan would be for me to juice up my sound system and blast out some Merle Haggard right next to his.
Now tell me that wouldn't be hilarious.

Yep that's why I moved out of town . If it wasn't the "boom boom " of speakers, it was loud exhaust pipes or people talking loudly into cell phones. Now the loudest noise I hear are the sounds of wild turkeys and the yips of coyotes.

Got to ask, do those Harley's not idle well ? Cause everyone that rides one needs to consistently rev the throttle at every stop sign , stop light, gas station, and basically any chance they can. We get it, you ride free just like your $40 t-shirt says.
