If the damage is mostly low on the plants, like the second picture, the damage is possibly cutworms. They will even attack potatoes underground. They hide in the dirt during the day and can be easily picked off at night, with a flashlight. Most are greenish gray colored and thick bodied. 7 Dust will kill them too.

Your kids might like fishing with them.

There's organic dust you can buy that kills bugs. It's called diatomaceous earth. I love it because it adds minerals to your soil. I am sure it's more expensive than the other stuff.

It's not supposed to work in "wet" inviroments? But we haven't had worms in livestock since we started using it.

We are getting rained out. But I way try it anyway?

I wouldn't use diatomaceous earth in this application.
It can also kill the bees that you need for pollination.
