Is this winch going to be strong enough to pull the skin on a coyote?

Thanks, ML

How big are your coyotes?

It doesn't take much. I get buy with a 220 lb. 110 volt.

Thanks for the "short" answer. Not all that common on forums.

I have an integrated skinning machine system dreamed up in my head that will be permanently mounted in my Toyota. Used to have a pole/gambrel that slid into the receiver riding around in the bed but was always in the way.

Coyotes - not big. 22 - 34 lbs

I will post some pics if I ever get around to building it.

Thanks again, ML

Plenty strong. How is the retrieval speed? Seems like some of the atv winches are pretty slow

Don't know. Prolly slow.

Bought it a few years ago for this project and have never run it.

Are you going to skin in the field?
Most use a hoist instead of a winch for the fur shed.

You’re gonna rip a hide in two before you ever bog down the winch.

I just bought a warn 2000 that goes into a receiver hitch in my headache rack on my flatbed. The plan is to use it for loading elk. I thought I might fabricate something for field skinning coyotes but the retrieval speed on mine seems slow so it might just frustrate me and I will end up peeling by hand anyway, lol.

When I build portable skinning rigs for customers I use a 2500lb winch of a touch better quality and they are fine. Don't use a remote controlled one for a skinner, always use the wired version like you have.

The 2500 I use will winch whole elk into the back of the pick up via a ramp with no problems.

Handling deer is not a problem either.

Yes It will work. If its for a portable skinner like fits your receiver, it should be about perfect. If you're using it at home, I'd sell that one or use it for a different project and buy a 220/440 electric hoist for speed and no need for a battery.
