Munderf, I’d love to hear more about your homemade bait. I have 3 in the freezer for that purpose but don’t know where to start. I’m ready to throw them out.

Russ Carmen Stated in his lure making book that Woodchuck and horse meat fat were the two fats the fox can easliy digest. Though there may be others.

All I did was skin and gut them then chop into small pieces with a clever.
Put in a gallon glass jar, cover with a screen for a few days and add bait solution.
Has a nice pinkish color.

to answer the ?.......YES, use alone and/or as an additive or base in a lure formulation.

you'd be wise to invest in the available bait/lure making books from suppliers.........get them FREE, by asking loved ones for them for birthday or anniversary or Christmas gifts, and end up with the whole collection.

AFTER circling the books in a few catalogs, give the catalogs to loved ones, explaining YOU want THEIR money well spent, on what you need/want, not some sweater to be worn once/yr. Most of the books are bout $10-15, so VERY affordable. Get ALL the books you can find, then STUDY and see what mixes and what doesn't PLUS many give recipes and procedures.
