I put in 24 8" x 9.5' posts. 16 of them I hand augured thru clay down to 6 feet...I dont want them to move!!! I left out the clay I removed and filled in around the posts with sand/ gravel from my small pit.

Top two wires are 14 ga. Bottom two are 17...kinda ran out of funds. I have not added the fiberglass in between posts yet.

Yes, the Black Baldies are loving it.

Yes but those hedge posts will last a lot longer than those pine posts

And, if planted green they just might take root and sprout. Happened all over Mo.

Hopefully the gravel fill works better for you than it did me. After one winter I had to redo every post I set like that. The gravel disappeared in the soup that the dirt turns into.

Nice to see smooth rather than barbed wire so deer don't get hung up in it.

Hope not, M Magis...I did it for drainage around the posts - make them last longer.

Ole, my other fields are done with 12ga High tensial , never wanted barbed.

I have several thousand feet of either one wire of two, electric fence. Places I trapped in Ohio, the guys had thousands of acres fenced with two 12ga high tensile wires, posts were really far apart.

What is there about a new wire fence that always looks kinda purty?

I know what you mean. I used some reclaimed 8" cedar posts from when I took down a 32 post corn crib. Thet were in the ground for 50 years and are still perfect! Each one I removed there was 19 to 21 feet after cutting off the bad ground level section. So I got 2 - 9'+ posts out of each.

Love a new fence ...

Never once have I personally seen or heard of a deer getting hung up in barbed wire fence simply because it was barbed. They get hung up when they jump and their rear leg gets between the top two strands. It can happen with any fence, including woven if there's a single strand on top of it. The barbs don't have anything to do with it. And in over 40 years, I've only seen it here about 3 times.

Nice job ! High tensile is the way to go
Never had a problem with mine and the cows respect the electric
With our soil, I just used a neighbor's pounder and happy with the results

330, ya done and went a real nice job.
As a land surveyor I have gone over, under and around a few in the last 45 years..
Been times, even for their inconvenience I was very thankful for them as unless a cow is on my plate, medium rare we tend not to get along so well.
