Does anyone grill fish, specifically walleye, on cedar planks? What's your opinion on flavor and any tips/ seasonings if you are a fan?

Not walleye but carp... I place carp filets on the plank. Cover in apples, tangerines and some lime juice. Grill at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove from grill, scrape fish and fruit into trash and eat the plank.

Saw a great recipe for carp, you grill on the plank and when it's done, you toss the fish and eat the plank! LOL Actually Carp is really excellent table fare.

I ate some lake trout a guy grilled on ceder. He threw the fish on the ceder and put seasoning salt on it and some onion slices. He said the cedar has to burn for it to do anything. The fish had a light cedar flavor to it. It was good.

Seems like cedar would be a poor choice of wood, considering it is a last resort for beaver chewing. Maybe l'll round up some hickory or cherry and give it a whack. I think I would make a foil tent over it to capture a bit of smoke and steam to expedite the process.
