What about Portland in the other corner?

What about Portland in the other corner? That's overrun with tree-dwelling idiots. Probably much worse than African immigrants

As a Maine native, I'm disgusted at the current state of the state. Our previous governor had the people's house in order and in less than 6 months, this new governor has spent and spent and is now going to spend more. I hope there is a good amount of buyer's remorse-especially now that our pockets will be picked even more. Here in Maine, the asylum is being run by the inmates. I think there was a billion dollar surplus in the state coffers when LePage left office. That's in a state with 1.3 million people. She'll squander that in a heartbeat, it's what liberals do.

Boy, I guess Maine is off the radar now for me as far as places to retire to - but come to think of it, every state is slowly becoming overrun, so last night I came to the conclusion that there's no point in even moving from where I am, especially since everything's paid for and I can live on the cheap.
That's so sad though about Maine.............

I spent a month in the fall, two different times in Piscataquis County, at Guilford. I would say that the average immigrant couldn't make it there without extensive social programs. It looked like good firewood cutting and gardening country to me for that type of person. Rural, inland types wont have to worry much, in my opinion.
I thought it was some nice country, there and north some.

Kinda weird how a pile of immigrants dependent on handouts by the govt keep ending up in swing states... almost as if it were done intentionally!
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

That's so sad though about Maine............. I had planed to retire in Maine. But, the taxes there are a killer. So even though I'm there half of the year I keep my residence in PA. Maine is overrun with MassHoles & it seems that half of the outfitters are not originally from Maine.

I know, it's like how VT and NH are being destroyed by all the CT transplants, who are fleeing CT because of all the NYC transplants. CT was a great state 30 years ago. No income tax, lots of green wildlands still... as development was not so completely out of control like it is today But - lucky for me - my next move in all serious is going to be to Mt St. Peter's Cemetery. I just seen my plot [*of the family plot...] just yesterday, and I have to say it's a very beautiful. Very peaceful, lots of wildlife... there's a river right there, a stream... lots of trees... even a railroad line. All the things I truly enjoy while on this earth. It will be lettered next month. So, as much as I'd like to - there's really no point in moving at this stage in my life. I'll just stay where I am, especially since my next place is walking distance from where I've been at for the last 28 years or so.....

Lost of cheap houses available in northern Maine (<$50,000).

Maine is overrun with MassHoles & it seems that half of the outfitters are not originally from Maine. That's like fishing guides up here. Not from here, usually from neighboring states like Iowa, but got introduced when they were young and that's what they wanted to grow up to be. .Totally non typical for a 5th generation local like myself.
