Need to build a house for our two growing beagles. Will 2'x3' be big enough? Or too big?

about right - plastic barrels make nice houses - can straw them in winter, clean out easy and waterproof

I always used food grade, plastic, 55 gallon barrels for my beagles too. Packed with clean, dry straw or hay, the barrels stay really warm. Cut a small entrance hole on the top of the barrel, leaving a good sized lip to keep the hay or straw in. Screw a piece of 2'' by 8'' under the entrance hole, to keep the barrel from rolling. At the far end, drill a 1/2'' hole, at the lowest point, to allow any water or other fluids to drain out.

Brian: Nice set up, I particularly like the PVC floor tubes, easy to clean, won't rust and a little springy to be easy on feet/legs. I'd take plastic barrels to my Mom's for the hounds when she cared for them when I had to go out of town. They work great, although the plastic can get pretty cold in freezing temp's, they just love fresh straw to burrow into.

Yeah

That's why o didn't use them! I've saw frozen dogs before. But a 90° door to keep wind out does wonders!

How is Daisy?

Yeah.

All but 1 or 2 sticks are ultraviolet resistant. Also,. Put screw in one end or your dog will figure out how to work them out!

But. Simple to replace. Remove screw and pull out old stick replace with new.
