3 days before and 3 days after a new moon as well as the night of the new moon . I could stay home on the full moon and save a lot of gas.. Pair a new moon with a front approaching is the best , it's been that way forever..

Just keep traps In the ground 24/7 don't worry about the moon. Coyotes are moving no matter what the moon Is doing they have to eat.

Just because the moon Is full doesn't mean the predators are going to hole up and wait till It wanes. Actually they may even hunt harder to fill their bellies.
Traps In the back of the truck or in the shed won't catch anything.
When I was young and out drinking I would say the MOON Is FULL and so be I. LOL

Bright moon doesn't mean no movement but it does = less land predator movement, including coyotes. It's a light thing. Full moon but heavy cloud cover usually = fair movement. I've always wondered if a predator's concealment is hindered by shadowy nights..moving in and out of the moonlight in search/stalking of prey.

Personally, I believe a dark moon (or cloudy full moons) impact a coyotes behavior more than prey movements.
Dark dark makes em more brazen, confident, if you will. They let their guard down, they get cocky. A bright, full moon night (especially on snow) makes em feel exposed, a lot like during daylight hours.
Couple that mood change with a big front that spurs a lot of movement and it’s no wonder almost all my barn burner runs coincide with dark nights and big barometer swings.

I've seen it the same as Boone Liane. Even more so with cats. Have caught cats on real dark nights in winter wheat. (if you never seen winter wheat in febuary it looks like hundreds of acres of a mowed lawn) A LONG way from any cover. I think they will cross that open stuff on bright nights too (especially a big tom looking for a date) but no way they slow down to sniff at a set.
Coyotes are timid animals. Everything makes them nervous. Bright night, human smell, a lot of them will stand back instead of going on in.
A FEW hounds can run a lion track that's 3 days old in dry country with little humidity and no snow. A cat leaves a whole lot less scent than you do no matter how careful you are.
That timid coyote is lots braver on dark nights. I first night a bunch more of them on dark nights.
