I have the Hook2 7" model. There is a learning curve and it seems each time I use the unit I learn something new. The unit did not come with a paper users manual which requires you to use an online version which in most cases is useless while out fishing! Find a buddy that has a similar model and have them show you the ropes to save a lot of time.

I am new to this area and don't know anyone that has one yet.

I have a hook 9 and a hook2 7 in my boat. The procceser is faster in the newer hook2 units. They are decent units for the money , you have to be careful buying them, I don't know about the particular model you are looking at but some of the gps splitshots look and sound about the same when advertised. make sure that the one that you are buying is capable of accepting a chip the preloaded maps are pretty much useless.
