Was interested in some possible cheap recipes an ingredients for dp bait, no conventions close this season an doubt we'll be attending any, trspping supply's, probly from just 1 place, an 1 shipping charge. Not interested in cat food for bait, I not trapping cats, an idea of dry cat food. Don't go with me. Nothing sticky or gummy either, or that freezes, marshmallows are ok sometimes, but mess, I like a dry bait. That has a strong sweet smell to it , an inexpensive

I go to the dollar store and by Jack mackerel. I drain and put the juice in a squirt bottle. The solid fish is then salted further and I add cooking oil to it. I have found a few lures I like on the lip of the trap. My only complaint is the possibility of it freezing the trigger. I keep it below the trigger.

Fish pellets. $17 for 50lbs at tractor supply. Works great I have never tried those but really like the idea. Could you be a little more specific on the name - I found several types of feed but no pellets on the tractor supply website.

Jack mckranel, is way to expensive, I price it bfore, how much order does fish food give out, what could add to it an how for more sweet smell, fruit loops are also way to expensive, not looking for something that birds peck at

Check the clearance racks at Wally World, any grocery store etc for canned cat/dog food. In Pet Proof's they work great and incidentals are minimal, Jack Mack from the dollar stores works great too. To avoid Cat's entirely, use a sweet bait, dollar store jelly's/jams, Apple Butter etc.

Just my 2 cents but I would not want the general public to think my bait was pet food.

Walmart cat food or strawberry marshmellows. Best part is you can snack on them too.

Walmart cat food or strawberry marshmellows. Best part is you can snack on them too. ^^^this is what I use....marshmallows with KoolAid powder on em. Tried other stuff, but not again. I dont use cat food or any other bait that when it gets wet it gets moldy..cereal included. Absolutely no fishy or oily baits. Traps are hard to clean out using that stuff. The marshmallows, even when they get wet, dissolve some and are easy to sling out. Some of yalll run way more DPs than me...I own 6 dozen. And using baits such as cat food, fish food, cereal, or fish just dont cut it down south. I should add that I run these DPs on same line when I'm coyote trapping. I just dont ike the mess near my coyote gear.

O'Gorman Coon Caviar. It works, it's pelletized and it smells good enough to eat. Cats won't have any interest in it.
