No SHIRIKAGE deduction ? that Isn't going to happen at the auction house. At one time they were deducting 12% and It could be more.

Was that shrink11 oz or 11 % BIG difference.

55 lbs - 11% =49 lbs times 77 = 3773 dollars - 9% commission = 3433. 43 divided by 55 only = 62.43 cents a lb !!!!!!

55 lbs -11oz =54lbs 5 oz = 4183.41- 9%commision = 3806.94 divided by 55 = 69 a lb

of course my math may be off. Plus how long did you wait to get paid !!!!!!!!!

11 OZ(and DUH....there's a big difference) and it was his choice to wait and send it when he did. he's able to wait on his money with no issue.he doeant have to sell his whole catch every year to operate season to season. its all going in the bank.

hes thrilled because he made the right marketing decision for him and thats all that matters!!!!!!!

hes been at this 35 years. he knows what hes doing when it comes to marketing his catch and the by products.

I'm not sure If this Is the case or not. But If that castor sits around for any period of time It's bound to lose weight. If I was the buyer I would be paying for that weight not the weight at shipping time.
I was told when the auction house receives castor they automatically deduct 12% or more, then It's not weighed again. This for the most part takes care of any shrinkage during storage.

we were told the opposite. it is weighed right before its offered private treaty.

our agent..who called and asked Jerry to dry and ship some castor..weighed it there because he felt it shouldn't be shrunk very much and he wanted something to go by in case it was so he could argue the point if it was shrunk all to heck.

I was told Nafa puts in controlled environment and you're paid for the weight when it sells. So if it takes months and you sent fairly wet stuff it could shrink considerably. I was also told fha takes 17% off for shrink automatically. Don't really know if either is true ? I sold dry in the country last year.

I always sold to webkie . When he received my castor he let It set for 2 days till it was thawed then weighed It and paid me.

BUT if you want to compare apples to apples POST HOW MUCH HE WAS PAID then you can divide by 55 and learn the real avg of what you or he or whomever got for their castor..................... NOT what it brought but what you got PAID !!!!!!!!!

Lots on here inflate what their fur was worth but then the won't post how MUCH they actually got paid. All that commission and tubbling and storage comes off the bottom line. NEVER heard of ANY country buyer charging anything for that.

I'm assuming If It was just sent In It hasn't been sold yet. It may sit around for months before it Is bought.

It won't show up on the reciept but you are paying for it one way or the other. A county buyers overhead, everything he has to do before reselling, are figured into the price he is paying.

Can a country buyer work on 9%?

NAFA can't work off 9%! There are charges to the buyer that are generally higher than what the seller pays.

Do you pay your country buyer $100 for reduces commissions for 4 years?
Do you pay him for a yearly $10 subscription for his knowledge?

70 was common here from several local buyers

Does anyone think that country fur buyers are providing a free service, paying you market value for your fur/castor, absorbing all the overhead of running a business, and reselling for the purchase price? Of course not. It's not a commission, or an itemized charge, but the difference between their purchase price and selling price is covering the cost of overhead plus a reasonable profit, or they wouldn't be in business.

I know of the other charges at NAFA. The buyer I offered my finished coon and coyotes to offered me 5.25$ and 25$ each.
