Had a sportsmen's meeting the other night. One of the members said he saw a bald eagle take a small fawn. He said the doe had twin fawns and the eagle attacked and killed one of the fawns. He couldn't believe his eyes, it happened right there on a field next to his house. The doe and the other fawn ran off.

The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

Nature is cool to watch.

I one saw a bird of prey take out a wood duck mid flight.

I have had them kill fox that I had caught and it was pretty graphic to see.

I have nothing clever to put here.

We have a sparrow hawk, used to have sparrows. At least that's what I think his name is.

Not far from here a fawn got hit on road and died a short ways away. The vultures started on it.
Two real young shavers nearby told me with their serious young faces straight that an eagle killed it cause they saw them on it.
I held my grin best I could and said, Is that right?

At least those boys get outside.

Sounds like I need to hope for more eagles to help kill off the deer population in these parts

Around Wyoming the Golden eagles are constantly taking antelope fawns when they are still pretty young.

That would be something to see. I have seen two coyotes take a twin fawn last year. The doe tried her hardest to fend for her twins but the yotes got them running and got one fawn. The sounds that fawn saw making after getting taken down was something I sill never forget. It was sad but nature isn't kind.

Eagles kill lambs too and occasionally a just dropped calf. They dive on them with their talons extended and hit their back knocking them down and cutting them. They hit them again when they get up making them bleed more every time till they don’t get up

I think there are types of vultures that take newborns also.

Black vultures kill calfs all the time here. FDNR will give permits to shoot them....

I have seen video's of them hunting roe deer with eagles and wolves. A fawn is no bigger than a good sized jackrabbit when it first born.

Being the odd man- out but,. , I'm a bit skeptical of the " I heard" of a baldy taking down a fawn.
Very possible but I don't think it's a common thing. whistle

We've got so many baldies now, if they learned how to hunt fawns, we wouldn't have any deer.
