They gave me a lower lumbar support brace and had me do stretches. I still get flair ups once in a while though.

Find a good chiropractor. The chiropractor can tell which stretches are best for you.

I use acupuncture with electricity put through the needles and nerves. I am pain free had pinched nerves and ruptured L5 disc and no supportive material left in the disc. No surgery for either the pinched nerves or ruptured disc. Been two years so far I’m still good. Cut , split and stacked 6 cords of wood feel great. Before acupuncture the only relief was a lot of ice and stretching. I really suggest you try acupuncture and ask about using the electricity to force the nerves back open. It’s like a garden hose having a partial kink in it and using more water pressure to open it up.

I had it once and I couldn't even hardly walk. I went to a chiropractor and had one treatment it was gone. That was 10 years ago never had a issue with it again.

stretch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UoITjubrgE

ibuprofen if you can take it

driving with my right leg angled out causes me sciatic pain . but using a section of pool noodle under my right knee keeps the leg strait and then the nerve doesn't get pinched.

in my other vehicle I can adjust the seat enough to keep my legs strait and avoid the pain

I also have stretches similar to these but using a bar or railing so that they can be done standing and not have to try and get off the floor but start stretching before you even get out of bed.

also if you sit a lot , start standing it will help , it helps because it builds your core muscles and if they are stronger and stretched out you will fatigue and cramp less causing less pain and pinching of the sciatic nerve.

Totally agree with this - I'll be doing something along these lines myself real soon, as it's time......

I will go to a chiropractor way before I ever go to an MD. A good chiro will have you re-aligned in no time. Pop those SI joints back in place and adjust the sacrum.
My son went to the Chiropractor today for a front shoulder pain. The doctor pushed on the muscle in his back, the supraspinatus muscle to be exact. Bout sent my son through the roof. Lol. Gave him two acupuncture needles in the muscle. Badda-bing, the front shoulder pain was gone. Doctor said he will be cleared to start pitching again Tuesday.
What I really love about this Chiropractor, he doesn’t have to prescribe pain killers or muscle relaxers. He fixes the problem so there is no more pain.

I had it for months!
My chiropractor tried to STRETCH my spine so the RUPTURED DISC that was pinching my sciatic nerve, making my right leg NUMB and knee COMPLETELY-TERRIBLY ASLEEP, would go back home.
It worked to a degree but we only got so far and only helped partially.
I finally had a MRI and they showed that I needed surgery and I AM SO GLAD I DID!
Much better now.

If I was you I'd INVEST in a Teeter Table, that hang you partially upside down.
This can align your spine AND stretch it a bit.
Get one bout $200-300, not the cheap junk...but don't need a $500+ unit.

IF that does NOT help after several months, you have to man up to surgery AFTER the MRI to show the detailed area and what exactly needs tuned up.

Find the neurosurgeon with THE MOST EXPERIENCE.
They had me see a guy with only 12 yrs experience at first, then I looked around and found a guy with 34 yrs experience...and BAM I found the right guy!

Its a good thing I did, cuz my ruptured discs had FUSED TO MY SCIATIC nerve and he knew how to get super close to the nerve and not touch it...but get the disc pressure off it.

I got a couple of books, written by Dr Hamilton Hall. He was a surgeon that practiced in Toronto Canada. He had a place near mine. He was big on exercise ,stretching, body strengthening. Surgury if needed. They are , the back doctor and the new back doctor. You can get them on ebay, in paperback . Well worth the read.
I had back surgery to decompress my spinal column. Not a lot of pain but my legs would get numb, if I walked. signals from the nerves were being pinched. Ok now, as long as I don't lift too much. A sore back is no fun. old 243

Compressed low back is one common source of sciatic nerve problems. In my case laying down and pulling my knee tight against my chest to get a low back/glute muscle stretch gives temporary relief.

Had years of sciatica. 3 years ago it got bad. Chiropractor and therapy did nothing then one day I couldn’t walk. I had 3 surgeries with the last fusing my l4-5. That was almost 2 years ago. Great now but I lost a lot of weight and work out a lot. I wish you the best. Sciatica sucks.

Ly on the edge of the bed with the effected leg hang off. Let if hang as straight down as you can. Another thing you can do to pop it back and re align the joint is lay flat. raise your knees with both feet flat . Put your hands together between your bent knees. Squeeze your knees together, relax , squeeze , relax It will hurt but if the joint pops it is instant relief......
