I think what's wrong with a lot of people today, and you can see it here, is the argument that "we have always been a melting pot". While this is true, to compare how it used to be and how it has been in the last 15 plus years is apples and coffee tables. It used to be that immigrants came here LEGALLY and were processed. They had to assimilate to OUR culture, OUR way of life and English was to be spoken out in public. Yes, they spoke their native tongue in private and in their neighborhoods but that was it, they assimilated to become a citizen of our great nation. Now, they come here illegally and want to bring their native - ways with them, that's BS. We need to nip it and go with merit based only and make sure they understand that they will be one of us, or get a ticket back to where they came. Catch hits a home run. A lot of the kids I grew up with grandparents spoke mainly Italian at home and their parents could also but their first language was English and they knew in order to get ahead speaking English was crucial. Also some Slovak was spoken. They wanted to be American, they wanted their children and grandchildren to be American and assimilate to their new home, not invaders holding on to the old ways in a foreign land.

While it may not be written in code, the Constitution, all laws and everything else that matters in this country is in English.
No you don't have to speak it, but I don't have to cater to you if you don't. If you want to initiate a conversation in another tongue, fine. You probably won't be offended, since you won't understand when I respond with. Screw you!!!
Actually, I am learning Spanish, but, my intent is for use in Spanish speaking countries, not here.

My first wife and the mother of my four children was a U.S. Marine and a Native American from Isleta, NM. She and her family spoke both English and their Indian language. Media twists all kinds of stories. Doesn't matter which "side" you're on. We weren't meant to be bipartisan, nor afraid of outsiders. My idea of Americans are folks who are comfortable with who they are & willing to teach folks some cool sh*t about being American, regardless of where they're from. The real people we should be paying attention to are those who control the media. It's very obvious they're trying to separate based on parties that shouldn't exist (as the forefathers wanted 'Merica to be) & divert from real issues.

You should embrace the language of the hood.That is a language all of its own and started right in the USA.
Then you wouldn't have to speak the Queens English.
