How do y'all interpret that?
I'd like to think that the city populations will be the first to go, naturally...….and the folks living way out in the boonies away from it all will be the ones left to pick up the pieces and carry on.
In a SHTF scenario of course. Folks in the city will get as far as the gas in their vehicle will take them.
I'm sure there are some survivalist type folks on here.....most probly are, actually, to one degree or another.

Meek basically means teachable. So those who are humble and allow themselves to apply God's teachings in their lives will be those who inherit the earth. Where you live has nothing to do with it.

I take it as those who are humble & usually the underdogs will receive the bounty of the Earth after whatever happens to it (or humanity)

Respectfully, look at what happens when there's a disaster in a big city, such as a hurricane. Some of the first people out are looters looking to take everything they can for nothing. In a SHTF event, they would have a hey-day. That won't happen in the rural area of America. Especially out in the boonies.

In today's world, a humble man is going to go down quickly IMO.

The end game is to return to the earth in the “new Eden” after Satan has been removed. I don’t believe anyone will inherit the earth as it currently is known.

To inherit the earth is not a reward.
Those that are quiet, submissive and easily imposed on will inherit the earth.

Hobbie is correct, I think. It's the long game, and many people misinterpret meekness as pacifism. In context, I believe the meekness refers to those who trust in Christ, and not themselves. Those who know they are sinful and ask for forgiveness, versus those who think they are always right. Another interesting note: The word praus, "meekness," means "power under control."

Christ will come back as King of kings, and Lord of lords.

Do a study of His life to understand what meekness is. It doesn't mean Christ was always hunkering down with His tail between his legs. It's knowing when to turn the other cheek, and trusting God to handle things. Multiple times when Christ squared off with His accusers.

It's unwise to take one single scripture by itself and build a life philosophy from it.

Jesus said blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Let's not leave out that word blessed, it's important. Obviously if being meek was a bad thing, He wouldn't have called them blessed. As far as meek people being walked on, Moses was described as the most meek of all men in the book of numbers, and nobody walked on ol' Moses. The earth Jesus is talking about is the new earth; meaning heaven. It has absolutely nothing to do with the physical earth or doomsday scenarios. That line is from part of the sermon on the mount, Jesus wasn't preaching about survival situations.

Meekness is power under control.
There will be a new Heaven and Earth, those that are saved (Born again Christians) will inherit the New Heaven and Earth..

The whole meek thing means, be suppressed and have a miserable life here on earth, but you will be rewarded later. Take your place in the unhappy but be happy cause.....

I don't chime in much but will give my take on this one. Griss is thinking the same as myself concerning meekness. Meekness is not weakness but strength under God's control. To carry that thought into the rest of the verse, consider inheritance. Have you ever been the recipient of an inheritance? Something that was given to you, to use as you want. You have control of it, it does not control you. Those who strive to walk the straight and narrow way have a real blessing with this verse. Jesus is teaching that you have the ability to live above what the world has to offer. One can be surrounded by many ungodly things, yet not be drawn into those things with your life. I don't see this as teaching to apply in a new earth time, but instead very applicable now. Just my opinion.

FREEDOM from the make believe is true happiness amsoker. I believe in the Creator, but riddle me this. When you go out into the woods, fields, crick banks, everything is so wonderfully connected and beautiful yes? How could you find happiness in suffering and believe that in order to have bliss after life you have to pay a price first. I will not and am not knocking you or those like you,( I was raised in that stuff) I know in my heart of hearts that a creator who made all would not let anyone suffer. My best to you.
