Don't have time for a lengthy reply, but will say a few things.
The Earth will be part of the new heaven and new earth, not earth as we currently know it. An Earth in perfection no more pain sickness or death and to be able to gaze upon God in all of His splendor and glory in our new bodies.

Sometimes God allows suffering so that He may be glorified. Too many biblical examples to mention. After I heard those words no parent wants to hear "your daughter has cancer, and it's rare" my very first thought and words were praise God.

I think your all in for a big surprise

In addition to other comments "inherit" does not mean get, take, win, earn etc. It references that some God, thing, person or culture gave or willed it to a person, group, nation whatever. We need to think about who is doing the granting or giving in statements such as that. Not so much about who knows how to grow crops, fight whatever, but more about the granter than the receivers.

You're all thinking to figuratively. We have a friend who's last name is Meek. He has assured us that his family will indeed inherit the earth. Of course he does make and drink a lot of mead, wine and ginger ale and was pretty drunk, usually, when he talked about it.

The world would be much better off if it were populated with more meek people. Meekness is not weakness, it's just the opposite.

Your giving the city types to much credit they have had everything dumped in their laps, they are skilled at getting what they need without working for it once that dries many are doomed. Most could not clean a fish, pigeon or squirrel on their best day. Dog eat dog would rule the day and leaving the City would be the LAST move as it would be even more foreign to them.

Me also if you consider most could not load a firearm let alone shoot it straight and most firearms would be handguns many would have zero skills for self preservation really. LOL

I had a Staff Sgt in the military that said he was actually uncomfortable if he wasn't surrounded by people. Can you imagine that?

You nailed it. Strength under control. I heard a preacher can’t remember name, maybe Chuck Swindoll give the example of It as a team of plow horses. All that power and strength kept under control by a bit of leather and a 180 lbs man.

I believe the meek are those who have wisdom yet compassion. Believe in the almighty and accept his will. Have patience but have the ability to act. Are not preppers but are prepared for what ever situation arises. We have three types around us. The meek, the predator and the prey. The predator will destroy the prey first as they have little courage. Then the prey will turn to the meek but will find they are in for a huge surprise as these know how to handle such types. I think that most outdoors men and women are in the meek category. If we are faced with a heavenly situation the ones that have accepted Christ will prevail. if it is a man made situation then the meek who have accepted and those that turn to him will prevail. JMO

It would be interesting to hear everyone's interpretation of that verse.
