I’m sure you all have heard of tiny houses, I have a tiny cabin so to speak. I recently retired in April and have been so busy since. I had a 12’x16’ shed built but I’m turning it into my tiny cabin. I recently leased a 40 acre farm that borders a SGL here in Pa. The farmhouse is empty, there are some cows, horses and sheep there but they don’t bother me at all. The landowner said I could put my “shed” in a place he picked out but suits me just fine. I’m surrounded by woods. I’ve been up there lately putting insulation in it, then paneling and a few odds and ends. I’m using a generator for power when I need it. I’ve been dreaming of this for a long time. I can’t afford to buy a camp or ground so I’m doing it this way. It’s a lot cheaper. So here’s the cabin and what I’ve done so far

Nice. Necessity is the mother of invention. A small dwelling can be mighty comfortable when the weather outside is frightening. Heck I've found a cedar tree just to break the wind quite comforting.

That’s a mansion compared to some tiny cabins I’ve seen. There’s a couple 6x6 foot cabins in the mountains. So small you smile and your teeth touch the wall. Not even enough room to change your mind.

You will enjoy that place, and when you aren't there, you will want to be there.
I built one many years ago in a canyon, only one way in or out. All material was sledded or carried/packed in and only hand tools and chain saw was used. The thing I did was tin all exterior walls and roof, because I wanted as little maintenance as possible. It was a very fun project and I use it all the time.
Keep us informed on your progress.

Check out nu-way stove manufacturer from northern Michigan for a compact wood stove. We had one. No bigger than a buddy heater. Plus you can cook on it. Very nice cabin.

I had to put extra 2x4’s in the corners just so I had something to nail the paneling to. This is the paneling I’m using, old metal bender saw this on my bedroom wall and thought the boards were real lol

I've been living in a 16 X 24 shabin for just over a year. No electricity and no running water. The wife and I have been having a blast. Hopefully start building the house next spring. We'll be going full solar since they want $60,000 to bring power in the half mile to the where we are going to build. I can get a complete solar setup for all my power needs for $16,000.

^ That is high. Around here it is 8$ a foot which would be 21000$. At 60000$ that is about $22.75 a foot.

That's a fine cabin you should be proud of. Mine is only 12x16 and just built of logs. Takes forever for it to warm up because of the thermal mass. Door is only about 5' tall. You're place will be just fine and ready for many memories.
