In reference to Genesis 3:16, I believe one of the effects of the curse was that women became controlling, which is the opposite of what God intended their nature to be. A man will willingly do what his woman wants if she asks in a loving way. But if she comes off as controlling, well that is when the fight starts.

While I don't disagree you with you, I've learned never to underestimate people. Desperation changes and drives people . "Regular" people can rise up, organize and lead. It would be easy to say they would be the first to go, but when a well organized gang army over runs your quite little homestead for it's resources the illusion of security becomes apparent. They don't need to know how to grow food or skin deer, they will just over run with numbers and take from those who can, and you can't kill them all, it's not the movies.
