Kind of over rifle hunting. Been doing it for the 20 years I've been big game hunting and I think I just want more of a challenge. Not to say I won't still rifle hunt if I drew a goat or sheep tag or something. So I am getting into bow hunting. Have shot compound bows a decent bit but not in a while. Now I am pretty sure I have too many irons in the fire... bird hunting, trapping, fishing and now bowhunting. Ah heck, what am I saying you can't have too many of those kinds of irons in the fire. Who else is a bow hunter?

This guy. Happy to answer questions. Managed an archery shop on my off time for a few years but it’s been almost 15 years since I did that so I’m probably not much of a help on comparing current new gear.

I here ya. All of my irons hit the fire in September and stay in the fire till beaver trapping closes March 31st. But I dont like hot weather so I purposely make it that way. Between squirrels, doves, archery deer and turkey, firearm deer, trapping every species allowed. During that time span my wife doesnt even ask what I am doing on Saturdays as I am leaving before daylight and its probable that I wont be back till dark.

Recurve shooter here . In fact, what I was carrying up there for spring bear. Think I’m gonna start getting back into big revolvers, though. Kinda neat hunting hands free . Also reassuring knowing that the revolver on your hip is capable of taking anything walking the planet.

I love archery. I hunt with a compound but do alot of target shooting with a longbow (terrible with it). I have a pretty top end compound set up, love shooting it at 80+ yards accurately.

Started archery hunting @15 yrs old with an old hand-me-down recurve . Now 57 and 17 of the last 18 years my bucks have been killed with a compound. For me, there is absolutely no comparison between the two as far as enjoyment. I hold out for a nice one with the bow. When I do have a buck tag at the end of archery season,I shoot the first legal buck I see with a rifle.-it all about the meat then.

As long as you do it the way you like, otherwise you might as well be at work.

Traditional archery, then trapping

I went golfing for the first time in my adult life a few days ago. Was surprised how much I liked it and how comfortable I was. Might pick that up for the summer.

Used to be a flat bow shooter, can't no more cause of my body. Ain't nothing like it. Your kicking yourself in the face right outta the gate by looking at it as another iron. You'll not find a better connection man.

I love spot and stalk with a bow, and I dont mean this walk around until you bump one up and start flying arrows at 50, 60 or 70 yd like you see a lot of on the internet these days. I mean crawl on hands and knees or belly for hours and take a shoot your very comfortable you can hit under "hunting" conditions .
