OhioBoy OP trapper Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 2,998 Ohio	My cousin killed a good buck this past fall. A dandy for him but he didn't think too much of it other than that. Got it mounted and hung it on the wall. He went to Columbus the other weekend for an Outdoorsman Show or whatever and took it with him b/c there were scorers there and he wanted to see what it scored. So he carrys it in and the guys scores it and is like you know were having a contest this weekend for highest score you should really enter this thing. He was in town for something else and was eh I don't want to have to come back to the convention tomorrow to get it. So the guy talked him into it and he left it. So the next day him and the boy go back to the convention center and he sent his boy in with the paperwork and said go in there and get that thing were in a hurry we got to go. So the boy goes in and my cousin gets turned around or whatever and his boy calls him. He thinks that weird so he answers and is like what? The boy was like ah dad you got to come in here they are having a banquet of some kind giving out awards, you won second place, and they are looking to give you an award of some kind in front of this group of people. He was super surprised and dumb struck about the whole thing. I thought it was a good story. I don't have pics and and he told me the score but I don't know anything about it... I think he said 168. Anyway. I thought it was a good story.

He was pretty dejected when the scorer told him it wasn't really even worth measuring. He started to walk away, but knew he had a trophy bear so he turned back and asked the scorer why he didn't think it was worth measuring. Turns out the scorer thought it was a grizzly bear, when he found out it was a black bear things changed. It was the number one skull from North Carolina for a few years! Savell cracks me up
