My daughter and her family are going to Denver in August. Her husband wants to see a Broncos game, and they figure they can drive to some mountain sights from there. Any suggestions, kids are 16 and 11.

If you want to drive a nice mountain road, drive Mount Evans. It is beautiful up there, and the highest road in NA. Guanella Pass is another beautiful road to drive. Denver area is one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been.

Escape the city, traffic, and smog - spend a day at Fairplay, a still somewhat historic mining town. Great walk through old town museum - "South Park City"

The mountains around Breckinridge and Keystone are very beautiful and a short drive from Denver. It's a small ski/ snowboarding town but there's still a lot to do. If they rent a jeep instead of a car there's plenty of trails they can offroad.

The best thing to do if you’re in Denver is to get out of Denver.

X3 ha ha , on a serious note there's the rodeo cowboy hall of fame and Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, the Coors factory and Spyderco are also close by. Red rocks is very interesting also a great place for concerts.

Denver has a fantastic museum, aquarium and zoo. Little sites and day trips in every direction. Avoid going up I-70 on a Friday or Back down on Sunday.

Pre-season Bronco should be happening or the public is allowed at the Dove Valley training facility.

Hwy 285 from south Denver west to the little town of Grant and back over Guenella Pass to George town and back to Denver on I-70 is a great day trip.

Before they go watch the Shining. Then go to Rocky Mountains National Park-Stay at the Hotel used in the movie. The Stanley. I never got to stay but did stop in and have a shot of Tequila at the bar. Say Hi to Lloyd

The south platte river branch runs a little ways south of Denver about 50 minute drive to Deckers fly shop (flies and lies) and they can set you up, and in my opinion is one of the most coolest fly fishing streams around that area, and has several miles of public access all along a nice winding blacktop with gravel areas to pull off to side and wade right in.
Most of it is less than waist deep too. Here is pic of my son in it, from about three weeks ago

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Fun restaurants and bars in Golden, too.

Great place to watch bums. If it gets a little slow, you need to move in closer to the Mission house where they feed them.
