I've been trying to backwash and when I do I don't have any pressure. Usually when backwashing it shoots the water out in a jet stream. Everything else seems to be normal pressure wise as when it is running on filter there is a nice jet stream coming into the pool. The water has been cloudy for well over a week and it seems to be getting worse, in the past it helped to backwash, but now for some reason I can't backwash. What do I need to do?
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

I tried waste. What are you referring to when you say the valve is probably broke? The very top of the filter where the various settings are was replaced about 3 weeks ago.

There is water coming out, it is coming out like the pump wasn't turned on. It should be "rushing" out.

It is in the plumbing, I had to get a new top for the sand filter which I did about 2 weeks ago and when I hooked up the hoses I screwed up.

Make sure that the flow of water has almost stopped before you turn the handle on the filter or the spider gasket will roll and be shot. Keep your alkalinity in check to hold the pH from changing due to rain and bodies. And if your using one of those cheap chlorine checkers(OTO) pitch it and get the kit to check free and total chlorine(DPD). If the 2 are not within .5 of each other you will have cloudy water due to chloramines. A pools chemistry is like a 2 year old. It will throw a tantrum if it is not in balance and will attack things to get what it wants. I have seen tiles literally pop off the wall because the hardness was to low and it wanted calcium and metal pump impellers and metal stairs destroyed because the alkalinity was wrong. Remember, if people are complaining that their eyes burn from the chlorine it is actually the pH being wrong. If you smell chlorine its caused by chloramines and the pool needs MORE chlorine not less.

I don't know what you mean by an OTO. I probably am using a cheap checker, it is a strip that I dip in the pool and check the colors against the back of the container that holds the strips.
