Good morning folks,

Just thought I'd share what recently happened here. I'll begin by saying we are all OK and there are probably people in more dire need of your prayers than us (but I wouldn't be offended it you kept us in mind LOL).

Last week, our house was struck by a MASSIVE bolt of lightning and burned to the ground in minutes. Had we been home, I am fairly certain there would have been no survivors. To top it off, almost all of our belongings had been moved to a storage unit (on site) 2 days previous. We are not sure if they are smoke damaged or not but should know this week. I've never really had a "by the grace of God" moment, but this sure seems like one of those times. Having said that, I would simply like to offer some unsolicited advice:

1) Give your kids/wife/husband a kiss and a hug every day, tell them that you love them. This life can be fleeting and unfair and you don't want to regret a missed opportunity
2) Purchase and maintain GOOD homeowner's insurance... I can't tell you how glad we are that we did
3) Pray that your house never gets catastrophically destroyed 7 days before the sale of that same house is intended to close (what a mess that has become LOL)
4) Finally, give thanks to the good Lord above for miracles small and large

I know not a lot of you probably follow my random ramblings on here, but I will probably just be reading rather than contributing for a bit... life has become a bit complicated in the short term LOL

Thanks for listening

Just happy to be here.

Wow, I glad to hear you and your family are ok. Sorry about the house and the headache of that happening right before you close on the house. I hope the rebuild and closing goes smooth.

You're right about tune advice life is a vapor.

Glad to hear your family is well. God definitely was looking out for you.
The title of your post reminds me of a song I never get tired of hearing:
God is great, Beer is good, People are crazy.

I don't care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.

Prayers of thanks for you and your family's safety, and guidance through the trying times ahead, sent.

Slydog, be thankful for the complication. You and the family are still here to fix it. Best wishes.
