My neighbor makes a ton of bed quilt/comforters. She asked if I had any antlers to cut up and make some two hole buttons for one of her projects. They really look nice when cut and cleaned. [Linked Image]

I used my wife's scroll saw. It cut them like butter. It's just a cheap saw I think she paid $20 for it new quite a few years ago. And yes, it does have a bad oder when cutting. But, I did this in the fur shed some the smell fit right in!
These were small antless mostly from sheds we found.

I bought several pounds of small antler burrs off of E-bay several years ago when we built our new home.

We used them as cabinet handles on the whole house, seeing as we set the home up as a cabin type atmosphere. I simply pressured washed them off, cut them flat on the under side and drilled a hole in them for a screw to attach the burr to the outside of the cabinet door, the natural coloring of the burrs, blended in prefect with the Knotty Alder cabinets !

They really make the cabinets shine just by being small and questionable as to what they are, we always get lots of compliments about the idea !

If you sand the buttons, with some very fine grit sandpaper and then wax and buff them, they really shine. I made a bunch of antler buttons, back in the late nineties, for friends making period clothing.
