Beaver will stay water logged, Castor will flourish , mink might recover and muskrat may rise little. That seems to be the crystal ball forecast. Hopefully we don't see another mink storm where the auction houses are filled and flooded. That's the real question. How many pelt outs will happen. Or will they scale back this year.
You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

We expect fur prices to rise just because ranched fur is going to dip by 25 million pelts?
I thought Russia and China was our main markets?
Garryowen I did say MIGHT! If I could find a bigger font size I would. Lol come what ever it is Im rat trapping again and chasing land predators.

My best guess is Big, prime coon, scraped and dried, with NO flaws, from Great Lakes states will be $12-$15 each ..... if the buyer likes you. Otherwise, if he has to do the work, you get hosed, as always. Large, medium and smalls are going to top end at $8 even if you scrape and dry. And as everyone has been saying for the last 3 years, don’t start early.
Never too old to learn

Speaking of coon possibly coming out of cold storage, anyone have comments on NAFA's tentative order of sale for their August auction? I didn't see clearances for overall coon from their May sale, but does just over 300k coon still being offered in August seems about right from what was left over after the last sale or did more come out of the coolers? Red fox at 60k also seems high but maybe most in May were just bought back. At least the wild fur is on the first day... https://www.nafa.ca/cs/idcplg?noSav...p;RevisionSelectionMethod=LatestReleased

Caster was surprisingly high for what I got in first nafa sale, I expect good heavy section coon to bring good pricrs at auction, like in June , my coon in june , brought, $26 average. All better stuff sold, unlike first sale, poorer sfuff sell for $11 an change average. coyote again well be good, everthing else, poor, rats. Maybe a little better , but low, the first nafa sale, I sold some good quality mink at $16, the one in June, sold 2 of best for $9-$10, rest unsold, I think that is what look like upcoming for mink, 1 sale, dont sell. Ok price for wild Mink, next sale, won't sell, I reslly think it going take time to get prices up on some species , years, maybe seversl or more, other items , like beaver, may. Never go up , u can't hardly make it worthwhile just target beaver

I had beaver at auctions go for $3.50 pre commision on mediums, $10 on good xxl slt spring beaver. Trappers living in areas, where main target is beaver , not to good, fortunately we have pretty good quality coon. An lots coon around. There are bigger populations in other areas of state And you had to scrape and dry them to get that. Groenewold paid that much for green frozen.
