Hi all,
I'm considering this vehicle with about 130,000 miles ball park and wondering if I could have input to the reliability and driving of this vehicle with those years. Never owned one. To be used primarily to get back and forth to work but if the family van breaks down to still have transportation....

Thanks!

Never had a jeep but the ones who do that I know will say they nickel & dime them to death and the mileage isn't anything to brag about.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

Are they giving it away? That is close to the actual value with that many miles on it. It will likely need one of every moving part on it very soon.

Laredo is a trim package. Is it the Cherokee(xj) or the Grand Cherokee(wj)? If it has the 4.0 inline 6 cylinder they are very dependable. My older kids started in Cherokees. The daughter's had 311,000 when some one pulled out in front of her. The son's had about 200,000 on it when he sold it several years ago. I still see it around. He flopped it over on its side one snowy day on his way to work. The tow company flipped him back on his wheels and away he went. Only mechanical issues were both radiators and one water pump.

It's the grand Cherokee. Two co-workers have them and love them but I'm not convinced. It's a 6 cyl 4 liter.

I didn’t think they put the straight six in the Grand Cherokee back then. Regardless, I’ve owned several and I’d probably steer away from it unless you know the owner and it was meticulously cared for (service-wise).

XJ inline 6 got 265,000 out of her before the head gasket blew other than that just routine maintenance and replaced a crankshaft positioning sensor..

If it is an I-6 and has been maintained should go a few more miles..

My daughter had the Grand Cherokee v8 it was junk but it did make it through 4 years of college before it went to the boneyard. She had lots of electrical issues and front end needs attention on these or the one she had...

Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes......
Thought I was a good bowhunter until I targeted mature bucks....

My wife drives a Cherokee and loves it. It is only three years old and has only about 35,000 miles, but has not had any problems so far. We will see what happens when the warranty is up!!

The inline six was available in the Grand Cherokees from from the beginning of them until 2004. Beware the full time 4x4 transfer cases. These were mostly in the V-8 models. In decent shape it should bring $1500-2500.

If you do the maintenance that they require they are nice SUV. I have a 2000 Laredo wj has the v8 in it 275000 miles and i go offroading once a week with some other jeepers same motor tranny and t case in it from dealer. Like any vehicle if not properly maintenance when it is do problems will occur no matter what vehicle it is.
