I replace catalitic converter on colorado, 2 years ago. It built into exhaust manifold an replace manifold all, few months ago the check engine lite came on an converter is already junk. They say shop, told me that may never be problem, runs normal other than check engine lite on, I notice that exhaust manifold side of the hood. Or passenger side, when feel the hood. Is much hotter to touch than driver side. Is that normal ? The exhaust manifold is in passenger side

I would not worry about it. Do you replace the air filter on a regular basis? Check your coolant level. If you are good on those 2 things you should be good to go.

Im not sure what oil Walmart brand is, but I would get the best oil you know of. Ive been using Castrol since the early 90s and haven't had an oil related motor problem since. Not sure if its choice, chance or sheer luck but Im hooked. Yep, I run Rotilla in my diesels, cars and lawn mowers. Use it in everything. A good oil is paramount to making any engine last!

U can get oil change cheaper at shop, than it cost for 5 qts expensive oil Sometimes you get what you pay for. What's cheaper ...expensive oil or getting a different vehicle every decade?

Does the vehicle burn oil or lose coolant? Burning oil and/or sending coolant through a convertor are quick ways to ruin them, and there is no fix other than to fix whatever is the cause of the burning oil or coolant, such as head gasket, worn rings, etc. In other words, it doesn't matter if your oil is the best in the world and you change your coolant every month, if it's getting into the convertor, no convertor in the world can survive that. DO NOT replace your convertor until you're sure those two issues are not present or taken care of, unless you want to replace it again in the near future.
As an aside, walmart oil is made by shell, who also makes quaker state and Pennzoil . It's decent stuff, it's what I use because it's cheap.

Must have overfilled the oil too to leave a trail 30 miles long. Friend drives fast, lol. Actually they went by the few red lights he stopped at.

Coonman has mentioned that in previous posts. Definately not something I want do again, $800 plus, noway of knowing for sure, why converter went bad, runs good, has 195,000 on it.unless start run rough. Not go do nothing with converter
