I have used these for years never had a problem. This year the acorn squash I planted all turned out to be pumpkins. I did not mix them up as I did not buy any pumpkin seeds. Anyone else have this problem? Eric

I've never been impressed with Burpees Seeds. I found too many times a poor percentage of their seeds would sprout. I don't buy their seeds anymore.

Ran into the same problem last year with another supplier. Seems that their supplier does not have very good field quality control on covering their flowers after self pollination and their squash fields are too close for the roving bees.

I have been using Harris seeds out of Rochester NY the last few years. I have to order the seeds by mail, but they have a nice selection, germination rates are better than store bought stuff, and the seeds that sprout are always what they re labeled to be.

They have a giant cabbage variety named OS Cross. Fun to grow.

I have been happy with Ferry Morse so far. I save my extras for gambler seeds for the next spring. Gambler seeds go in the ground extra early, hoping for a early harvest. Sometimes I win most times I lose.

They are geared more towards commercial growers, but their prices and variety are very good, even if you're just buying for the home garden.

I have used Burpee seeds for years , never had any issues with the seeds.
I did get crook neck squash seed at the local feed store and they turned out to be straight neck squash
Which produced heavily and I was very happy with..

I have utilized two different seed suppliers over the last 40 plus years. The last decade I have noticed a slight to significant decline in the germination success of some varieties. It shows up for me mostly in the cucumber, melon, squash, pumpkin seeds and had some issues with one variety of sweet corn one year. I also notice that in the past I had some carryover seeds and would plant those with good success and notice that lately there is more of a hit or miss.
I also have been told that finding suppliers who deal in more commercial operations have better seed fertility, but don't know that first hand.

I have used their seed at times with no problem. Although this year I bought some "supposedly" blue lake bush green beans. They came up beans, I must say that, but some of them are flat pod like a Italian green bean, some of them are evidently pole beans by the way they vine all over the place. I guess who ever packed them must have been a liberal, got to have diversity you know.

I know a few commercial growers , they swear by these 2 companies , and swear at the others ,
If there is a problem with anything they send new seed ASAP ,it's rare but sometimes there are problems.
