Been picking Saskatoon berries like crazy the last few days. Tomorrow me and the family are going to the strawberry farm to pick a bunch! I think we’re picking 15 gallons tomorrow.

'bout a gallon of blackberries and almost 2 gallons of hucks so far. Will probably pick one more 1/2 gallon of hucks and call it good for the year. That will get me through until next year.

I was very disappointed in the June Berry/Serviceberry crop this year. Frost got me big time. I'm going to plant some trees next spring and I'm in the processes right now fencing off an area.

Very small crop of Black caps, hardly any gooseberries, the Mullberries were also a disappointing. The Elderberries appear to be good. Also the Blackberries are a little late but seem to be plentiful.

The summer raspberries are just starting here. I have a garden in town and I’m getting some. All the rain seems to be pushing the crop to ripen berries much earlier than normal, though I really don’t like the flavor yet. All of ours go into jam.

The huckleberries were thick but the heat discouraged us from going. Got quite a few in a couple days anyway. On my 3rd custard pie and bin in freezer is full of frozen ones!

Beautiful patch of berries! Are those wild or is that a patch you got started??
Both patches are wild. We don't grow or cultivate as there are usually enough around. What are salmon berries? Sorry for the stupid question. Salmon berries are what we call cloud berries. They are similar in shape as a raspberry but usually larger and much more full in shape. Typically we find one berry per plant and the berry faces the sky. The plants are short growing about 4-8 inches tall. Another stupid question? Wife was wondering whats a salmon berry taste like? Flavor is difficult to describe. It is more juicy that most berries and when ripe is quite soft and easily broken when picking. Some have compared them to raspberries though I think they are more tart/tangy with a hint of sweetness if eaten raw. They are loaded with large seeds that are difficult at best to chew so you can either try to spit them out or swallow the seeds whole. Seeds are bigger than any blackberry but smaller than a chokecherry. We use ours for jelly.
