I will take the summer over the winter any day. Can't golf or fish (no ice fishing for me)or raise a garden, or ride a motorcycle when it's cold out. I guess you could do all those things and freeze while doing them but they wouldn't be as enjoyable. Plus in the summer, I hear that the women wear less and show more. Not that I look!!! grin grin

Golfing and gardening is gay.

I like both, warm winters in the south make it easier to trap. Better fur in the north. Even though southern beaver avg about the same in today’s market, all hatters. Lol. I’ve lived and trapped in both and find things I like and dislike in both climates.

I like our seasons we have here in WI, but if I had my preference having nice fall weather every day would be great. Low 40s at night and 65-72 during the day with about 40% RH.

I still like our winters here as I am very active in winter activities, but I know several fellow Wisconsinites who have winter homes in the south and the one thing they say the notice quickly is that there is much less joint swelling, arthritis and other body issues when they don't live through a cold winter. Note however most are not in the south from May to October. Never spent much time in the south when it was hot. It was hot in Nam but being in the early 20s one can adjust pretty well.

What about living in both... 96-100 degrees in the summer and days in the -20 with out the wind chill in the winter (last year coldest temp was -21 with a wind chill of -44). Best of both worlds?

Aint no way that 96-100 degrees is the best of both worlds ! Even dry heat ! Not for myself, anyway grin Now, highs of 70, lows in high 30's, with rain intermittent through July/August would be purrrrrrrfect ! cool

I despise snow and ice or at least the wet mushy slippery mess we get down here. I'll put up with the heat and swamp like humidity to avoid having to deal with the slush. Besides I can have a garden year round here.

I'm not very good at it, but the "best of both worlds" comment was sarcasm. I am not too fond of temperature extremes,

I've always preferred the cold over the heat/humidity of a St. Louis summer. You can always throw another log in the stove and put on sweater, but once you're naked, that's it. However I've found over the last 20 yrs or so, freezing my butt off isn't as much fun as it used to be! (I'm 70 now))

Well, it is 96 here today and last January we had a couple days of 40 below zero.
Now if'n a guy could average that out it would be about perfect.

When I lived in Jackson County and was a sophomore in HS in 1964 we had 53 below in January and 104 on the 4th of July in the same year! We did not heat indexes then or wind chill calculations so some days were worse.

Living 75 miles north of the Mason-Dixon line means I live in a moderate climate. Our average annual high temp is 63 F and our average low 45 F. We get an average of about four feet of rain each year and about two feet of snow.

We get single digit temps every winter and they're forecasting 97 F the next two days with high humidity.

Given my druthers I'd prefer to be a bit more north. I deal with cold much better than heat.

Eh...wot?

I used to golf and was very poor at it.
I have since devoted my time to gardening and I ain't very good at that either.
However, I would rather eat vegetables than golf balls.

I wouldn't live anyplace but in the north country. I love winter and fall, way to many outdoor activities to do, I never get them all done.

I hate HUMIDITY!! And gnats!! With that being said, I love the cold but I don’t think being shut up in my house unable to leave because of snow is something I’d like. I do hate the heat, but it’s not as bad on days with less than 40% humidity. I would like to experience a sho’nuff cold winter down here though, at least something that would make me trade in my shorts for pants.
