Death wobble can be 1 thing or a combination of several, in my 3500 dodge it was ball joints, a worn tire, and play in the steering gear box. mine shook so bad once I had it fixed the steering box was cracked. good luck, its frustrating! RR

To tell if its the track bar, start the truck and turn the steering wheel, if the truck moves sideways over the tires as the wheel is turned the trackbar needs replaced. RR

We put new ends on track bar a month ago .new tires stopped it .i see his truck in my drivway this morning so he's back safe
All the extra work and it turned out to be tires or, more likely, one tire in particular. I wonder if there wasn't a visible bulge from a belt breaking or something on one of them.
Glad he's back home.
Eh...wot?

An awful lot of people looked at them tires and could find nothing wrong with them he had them rotated and bslanced and nobody could see any thing wrong with them and that had no effect on the wobble

Glad he’s home....now you can trade it in for a GMC....the extra money is worth it.
We have discussed that at lenghth I send him this meme quite often .that ford syndrome comes from his mothers side of the family. My side is all chevy with a sprinkle of cummins motors that happen to be in dodge trucks

The tires that this happened with was Micky Thompsons with near 1/4" tread . I cant see a deffect . I cant get my head around is how a tire with no visible deffects can cause a catastrophic shake in the vehicle that is strong enough to rip the steering wheel out of your hands.when placed either the front or back

You may have to get an extra rim and try them one at a time on a balancer to find the one outa whack. If they don't have air in them it might not show. Have to agree it sounds crazy. You would think it would be something the size of a softball to cause that much havoc. Maybe you need to put this on the strange/unexplained stories thread, lol. Good luck trying to figure it out. Just glad its home and safe instead of out there.

I'm going to agree with Foxpaw, sometimes just rolling them across a level floor will show a wobble that shouldn't be there. We pulled a trailer tire Friday that when we jacked it up and spun the tire you could see an off set to one side in a section of the tread.
